Misc.: St. Albans Daily Messenger (St. Albans, VT), Friday 12 March 1926: A report of the conviction of John Lapete, of Irasburgh, has been received at the office of the fish and game commissioner stating that Lapete was convicted of shooting a duck out of season. He was fined $15 and costs when brought before Judge Williams in the Newport city court.

Obituary: Springfield Union (Springfield, MA), Friday, 11 July 1947: W. Springfield - West Side Man is Heart Victim - John W. LaPete, 39, of 155 Ashley Ave., West Springfield was stricken with an attack of coronary thrombosis at 12:30 yesterday afternoon in Riverdale St., and died before West Springfield police could get him to Mercy Hospital. Dr. William A. R. Chapin, medical examiner for the Springfield-West Springfield district gave the cause of death. LaPete was a tiremaker employed by the Fisk Division of the U. S. Rubber Co. in Chicopee. He was a native of Stanstead, Can., and was born Aug. 31, 1907. Besides his wife, Lucy (Cherrier) LaPete, he leaves two sons, Stanley and Arnold; a daughter, Carol; his mother, Mrs. Rose LaPete; a brother, Benjamin; and a sister, Mrs. Verna Woodman of Winsor, Vt. The funeral will take place from the Curran-Jones funeral home at a time to be announced.

He was a foreman at Eastern Container Corp. in the Indian Orchard section of Springfield, and retired in 1993. Born in Springfield, he lived in this area all of his life. He graduated from West Springfield High School in 1948, served in the National Guard, and was a communicant of Immaculate Conception Church. He leaves his wife, the former Doris Bergeron; a stepson, John Savard of Holyoke; two daughters, Denise Barry of Shutesbury and Doreen LaPete of South Hadley; his mother, Lucie Mongeon of West Brookfield; a brother, Arnold of Clearwater, Fla.; and a sister, Carol Cook of West Brookfield. The funeral will be Thursday morning at Messier Funeral Home and the church, with burial at Notre Dame Cemetery in South Hadley. Calling hours will be Wednesday evening. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice Life Care, Holyoke, MA, or the American Cancer Society, West Springfield, MA.
