MISC:  Massena Observer (NY), Tuesday, 17 September 1940:  Ira Peets, 13, son of Mr. And Mrs. Lawrence Peets, Racket River, is making a satisfactory recovery from an operation performed at Hepburn Hospital, Ogdensburg.  The child suffered an injury at his parents’ home last week which made the operation necessary.  He was running from the barn to the house and happened to run into a corner of the corn binder, striking himself in the abdomen.  At first it was believed that the injury was not serious but his condition became worse and he was taken to the hospital in a car owned by Mrs. Bessie Hitchcock, Racket River.  It was found that he had suffered ruptures of the intestines and an operation was performed.
