Obituary:  Massena Observer (NY), Thursday, 19 January 1989:  Funeral services for Harvey W. Peets, 75, will be held Friday at 10 a.m. at the Sacred Heart Church with the Rev. Monsignor John Pendergast presiding.  Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Massena.  Calling hours will be held this afternoon and evening at the Phillips Memorial Home in Massena.  Mr. Peets died Tuesday (Jan. 17, 1989) at 6:15 a.m. in Ogdensburg.  Knights of Columbus Council 1141 will hold a memorial service Thursday evening at 8 p.m. at the funeral home.  Surviving are four sons; Roger, James, Terry and Alan, all of Massena; four daughters, Mrs. Lewis (Beverly) Green, Massena, Mrs. Elwood (Norma) Small, Massena, Mrs. Walter (Marlene) Dewey, Bloomingdale, Indiana, and Mrs. John (Paulette) Brainard, Portsmouth, Va.; 27 grandchildren; one great-grandchild; one brother, Donald Peets of Massena; one sister, Mrs. Veronica Fregoe of Massena; several nieces and nephews.  Mr. Peets was born in Massena on April 2, 1913 to William and Clara (Mitchell) Peets.  He was married to Hazel Savage on May 7, 1934 at St. Patrick's Church in Hogansburg with Rev. Hugh O'Reilly officiating.  Mrs. Peets died on Oct. 15, 1987.  Mr. Peets was employed as a foreman at PASNY for 22 years until his retirement.  Prior to that, he farmed on the Brouse Road, then drove a truck for the Dairymen's League and also drove a schoolbus.  He was a member of the Knights of Columbus Council 1141.  Memorial contributions may be made to the Trinity Catholic School Endowment Fund.

Obituary:  Massena Observer (NY), Tuesday, 20 October 1987:  Funeral services for Hazel R. Peets, 73, 11 Hidy Ave., Massena, were held Monday at 10 a.m. at Sacred Heart Church with Rev. Msgr. Floyd J. Brown and Rev. Msgr. John F. Pendergast officiating.  Burial will be in the Calvary Cemetery in Massena.  Calling hours were held Saturday and Sunday afternoon and evening at the Phillips Memorial Home in Massena.  Mrs. Peets died Thursday afternoon (Oct. 15, 1987) at the Highland Nursing Home in Massena, where she had been a resident since Oct.5, 1987.  Surviving are her husband, Harvey; four daughters, Mrs. Louis (Beverly) Green and Mrs. Elwood (Norma) Small, both of Massena, Mrs. Walter (Marlene) Dewey of Blllford, Ind., Mrs. John (Paulette) Brainard of Portsmouth, Va.; four sons, Roger, James, Terry and Allen, all of Massena; 27 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. Bernice Prashaw of Plttsburgh, Mrs. Jeanne Phillips of Moira; four brothers, Harold Savage of Malone, Gerald Savage of Massena, Wayne Savage of Westville, John Savage of Moira.  She was predeceased by two brothers, Victor in 1960, Neil in 1986; also three sisters, Elsie Peets in 1985, Beatrice Dumers in 1987, Dorothy Derouchie in 1975.  She was born Jan. 4, 1914 in Fort Covington, daughter of Edward and Grace Mayville Savage.  She married Harvey Peets on May 7, 1934 at St. Patrick's Church in Hogansburg with Rev. Hugh O'Reilly officiating.  Mrs. Peets was a communicant of Sacred Heart Church and a member of the League of Sacred Heart.  Memorial contributions may be made to the St. Lawrence County Chapter of the American Cancer Society.

Green, 68, Massena, died Saturday in St. Regis Nursing Home.  Mrs. Green was a homemaker and at one time had worked at Warner Bros.  Born May 5, 1936, in Malone, daughter of Harvey and Hazel Savage Peets, she attended Massena High School.  She married Lewis J. Green on Feb. 8, 1958, at the Church of the Sacred Heart with the Rev. John F. Pendergast officiating.  Surviving besides her husband are a daughter and her husband, Melissa and James Prescott, Massena; three sisters and two brothers-in-law, Norma and Elwood Small, Massena, and Marlene and Walt Dewey and Paulette Brainard, all of Louisville; four brothers and their wives, James and Patricia Peets, Roger and Barbara Peets, Terry and Margaret Peets and Alan and Sheila Peets, all of Massena; two grandchildren and several cousins, nieces and nephews.  The funeral will be private.  Burial will be in Massena Center Cemetery.  There will be no public calling hours.  Arrangements are with Phillips Memorial Home.  Donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Association.

Roger J. Peets:  Watertown Daily Times (NY), Thursday, 8 December 2016:  Massena:  Roger J. Peets, age 76, of State Highway 420, Massena, passed away unexpectedly at his home early Monday morning, Dec. 5, 2016.  Calling hours for Roger will be held Thursday (Dec. 8, 2016) from 1:00-4:00 p.m. and 6:00-9:00 p.m. at the Phillips Memorial Home, Massena.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday (December 9, 2016) 12:00 p.m. at the Church of The Sacred Heart with Rev. Tojo Chacko presiding with Rev. Jack Downs co-celebrating.  Burial will be to follow services in Calvary Cemetery, Massena.  Roger is survived by his loving wife, Barbara, and his six children; Kevin (Kim) Peets of Las Vegas, NV, Cynthia Toomey of Massena, Craig (Brenda) Peets of Winthrop, NY, Darren (Shelyn) Peets of Massena, Brian (Jennifer) Peets of Fairport, NY, and Jennifer (Scott) Streeter of Canastota, NY.  Eighteen grandchildren; Dereck (Brittney) Peets, Stephanie Toomey, Samantha and Steven Kormanyos, Dennis Kelly, Lee (Lindsey) Kelly, Craig Peets, Kaila (Levi) Hull, Caitlin, Cassidy, Camryn and Carter Peets, Trevor, Erin, and Brendan Peets, Justin, Jonathan and Zachary Streeter.  Six great-grandchildren; Oakley Peets, Jaynie, Sullivan and Ellie Peets, Charleigh and Lexi Hull.  Roger is also survived by his sister Norma (Elwood) Small, brothers Jim (Patty) Peets, Terry (Margaret) Peets, Alan (Sheila) Peets, and sisters Marlene (Walter) Dewey and Paulette Brainard, sisters-in-law Elizabeth Belgarde and Elaine (Mike) McCann, and brother-in-law Albert (Mona) Goodrow and many, many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.  He was predeceased by his parents Harvey and Hazel Peets, father-in-law and mother-in-law Albert and Hilda Goodrow, sister Beverly, and brother-in-law Lewis Green, brother-in-law Francis Belgarde, and niece Loralee Norris.  Roger was born to the late Harvey W. and Hazel R. (Savage) Peets in Malone, NY on March 2, 1940.  He attended Sacred Heart Grade School and graduated from Massena High School class of 1958.  Shortly after graduation, Roger married his beloved Barbara Goodrow on September 20, 1958 at the Church of The Sacred Heart with Rev. Jack Downs presiding.  They began their family as Roger started his career as a machinist at Reynolds Metals, leaving to work at GM Powertrain Group in Massena for 10 years, returning to Reynolds Metals, retiring in 2001.  Roger was very active in his children's sports and activities, coaching in Tee-Ball, Little League, Babe Ruth Baseball, Minor Soccer and Girls & Boys Biddy Basketball for nearly 19 years.  He was also a lifetime communicant at Sacred Heart Church and participated in the Folk Group, Pre Cana, Marriage Encounter, Cursillo, and as a Eucharistic Minister.  He was very proud of all of his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.  He enjoyed watching sports, television, camping, playing his guitar and everything that involved and surrounded his grandchildren.  In lieu of flowers, the family asks that any memorial contributions or donations in Roger's name be made to the Trinity Catholic School Endowment Fund; 188 Main Street, Massena, NY 13662 or to the "Roger J. Peets Annual Scholarship Fund" established at Massena Savings & Loan; 255 Main Street, Massena, NY 13662 which will be awarded to a Massena Central High School graduate.

 

James Harvey Peets:  Daily Courier Observer (Massena, NY), Wednesday, 4 March 2020:  Massena: James Harvey Peets, age 78 passed away unexpectedly at his home on Monday, March 2, 2020.  The family has entrusted funeral arrangements to the care and direction of the Phillips Memorial Massena.  Friends and family may be received on Thursday March 5, 2020 from 1:00 P.M. until the time of the funeral the Mass at 3:00 P.M. at the Church of the Sacred Heart, Massena.  James was born on February 28, 1942 in Malone, NY the son of the late Harvey and Hazel (Savage) Peets.  He married Patricia Roy on August 18, 1962 at the Church of the Sacred Heart with the late Msgr. Griffith Joseph Billmeyer presiding.  James was employed at Reynolds Metals Company for 40 years, where he was Union President and Business Agent of the local 450, Vice President of the International Aluminum Brick and Glass, and also a member of the Massena Elks Lodge #1702.  Jim is survived by his loving wife Patricia, his children, Timothy J. and Marabeth of Massena, NY; Stephen M. and Jean of Massena, Jeffrey and Nancy of Webster, NY; Cheryl Peets of Massena, NY; three grandchildren, David, Taylor and Joslyn Peets and a great-granddaughter, Ivy Lynn Bowers.  He is also survived by his siblings, Norma and Elwood Small of Massena, NY; Terry and Margaret Peets of Frankfort, NY; Alan and Shelia Peets; Marlene and Walter Dewey; Paulette Brainard; a sister in-law Barbara Peets whom all reside in Massena, NY, along with several nieces and nephews.  James was predeceased by a sister Beverly Green, a brother Roger Peets, a granddaughter Michelle Peets and brother in-law Lewis Green.  In lieu of flowers, the family of James H. Peets, wish that any memorial contributions be shared with a charity of one's choice.
