MISC:  Press and Sun Bulletin (Binghamton, NY), Friday, 15 February 1946:  Sherburne - EM 3c Harlow W. LaShomb has returned to the United States Naval Base, Charleston, S.C., after spending a few days' leave at his home in this village.

- Press and Sun Bulletin (Binghamton, NY), Thursday, 4 March 1965:  Norwich - Three persons were injured early today in a two-car collision in Silver Street near the intersection of Mitchell Street.  Brought to Chenango Memorial Hospital were: Mrs. Frances Hetherington, 62, of Norwich who suffered possible neck or back injuries, according to Norwich police.  Harlow W. LaShomb, 39, of 70 Borden Avenue, Norwich, driver of one of the cars, contusions of the forehead.  His wife, Isabelle, 36, severe laceration of the head and face and contusions of the knees.  Police said the woman's head went through the windshield.  The accident happened about 6:55 o'clock when a car operated by Eloise Hetherington, 35, of 18 Lee Avenue, Norwich, was slowing to stop to pick up a passenger, police reported.  They said Mr. LaShomb told them he did not immediately see the other car stop.  Assistant police chief Jack Sackett and Sgt. Norman Weeks investigated.

Obituary:  Journal Gazette (Mattoon, IL), Wednesday, 22 October 2008:  Charleston - Isabelle LaShomb, age 80 of Charleston, passed away on Sunday (October 19, 2008) at Charleston Rehab and Health Care Center.  Services celebrating and honoring her life will be held at Adams Funeral Chapel in Charleston, on Thursday (October 23) at 1:00 p.m. with Reverend Cindy Jones and Reverend Mike Jones officiating.  Interment will follow in Roselawn Cemetery, Charleston.  Visitation will be held at the funeral chapel on Thursday from noon until service time.  Isabelle was born in Greenville, Tennessee on July 3, 1928 one of eleven children born to Robert Leroy and Fannie (McDonald) Hensley.  She was united in marriage to Harlow LaShomb, Jr. on December 26, 1955 in Norwich, New York.  She is survived by her three children, William David LaShomb of Charleston, Ronald Craig LaShomb of Moline, Illinois and Bonnie Faye James and her husband Greg of Charleston; two grandchildren, Skyler Nickoll James and Nathan Harlow James, both of Charleston; three sisters, Betty Alexander of Aiken, South Carolina, Margaret Clark of Norwich, Patricia Samsel of Atlanta, Georgia; one brother, Donald Hensley of Orlando, Florida; and several nieces and nephews.  In addition to her parents and her husband, Isabelle was preceded by three sisters, Nell Phillips, Maude Powell and Sue Scortchiava and three brothers, Clarence Hensley, Dennis Hensley and Bobbie Hensley.  Isabelle was a member of the Wesley United Methodist Church in Bradley, Illinois and when living in Norwich was employed by the Champion Mills Company as an Inspector.  Isabelle loved her family and as a homemaker was successful in making their house a home.  She was an excellent seamstress, loved to cook and embraced the holidays deeply rooted in a spirit of tradition and hospitality.  She looked forward to opening her home to all her family and many friends and to preparing traditional holiday dishes for all to enjoy - she loved to entertain.  She enjoyed traveling and camping and especially spending time at the "Lakehouse" nestled on the banks of Lake Gary in New York.  Memories created with family and friends are abundant and will be lovingly treasured.  Isabelle's family requests that memorial gifts in her honor be made to the Charleston Public Library.
