Obituary:  Springfield Union (MA), Wednesday, 27 December 1972: Enfield, Conn.:  Henry Peets, 64, of 63 Cottage Rd. died Monday in Newington Veterans Administration Hospital.  Born in Clinton, Mass., he lived here 25 years.  He was a technician for the Hamilton Standard Division of United Aircraft Corp., Windsor Locks, 20 years and retired four years ago.  He was an Army veteran of World War II and a member of the Shaker Pines Volunteer Fire Department.  Besides his wife, the former Jennie Albano of Enfield, he leaves a son, Richard R. of Springfield, Mass.; a daughter, Mrs. Gloria Arrowsmith of Southwick, Mass.; two stepdaughters, Mrs. Edward McGuire and Mrs. Anthony Liquori, both of Enfield, and two brothers, William of Tupper Lake, N.Y. and Edward of Indian Orchard, Mass., and three sisters, Mrs. Vine Mayou of Indian Orchard and Mrs. Nellie Liberty of Easthampton, Mass. and Mrs. Mary de Mara of Tupper Lake.  The funeral will be Thursday at Leete funeral home with a liturgy of Christian burial in St. Adalbert's Church.  Burial will be in St. Adalbert's Cemetery.
- Tupper Lake Free Press, Wednesday, 27 December 1972:  Henry Peets Dies At Indian Orchard ---- Mr. and Mrs. William Peets, 17 Facteau ave., have received word of the death on Christmas day of his brother, Henry Peets, 64, of 153 Main st., Indian Orchard, Mass., formerly of Tupper Lake.  They left today to attend the funeral Thursday.

Obituary:  Springfield Union News (MA), Thursday, 21 March 1996:  Jennie Albano Boland Peets, 78 of Hartford - Jennie (Albano) Boland Peets, 78, of 102 Brandywine St. died Wednesday at St. Francis Hospital in Hartford.  She was born in Thompsonville, and spent most of her life in Enfield.  She moved here a year ago.  She was a communicant of St. Patrick's Church in Enfield.  She was the widow of Henry Peets.  She leaves a daughter, Agnes McGuire of Suffield; a brother, Joseph of Windsor Locks; a sister, Rose Richards; eight grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren, and a great-great-grandson.  Another daughter, Patricia Liquori, died earlier.  The funeral will be Saturday morning at Leete-Stevens Enfield Chapels and the church, with burial in St. Adalbert's Cemetery, all in Enfield.  Calling hours are Friday evening, and memorial contributions may be made to Home and Community Health Services Inc., PO Box 1199, Enfield, 06083.

Gloria Peets:  The Republican (Springfield, MA), Monday, 28 July 2014:  Lucy Gloria (Peets) Simons, 84, former longtime resident of Springfield, Mass., and recent resident of Greer, S.C., passed away on June 30, 2014 at St. Francis Hospital in Greenville, S.C.  Daughter of the late Henry and Aldea (Yelle) Peets, she was born in Springfield and graduated from Springfield Technical High School in 1947.  Gloria, as she preferred to be called, was the devoted wife of Richard L. F. Simons, who passed away in 1984, and loving mother of Alan J. Arrowsmith, who passed away in 1988.  She was also predeceased by her beloved brother, Richard R. Peets, and sister-in-law, Edith G. Peets.  A Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter (CPCU), Gloria was employed for over 14 years as Sr. Account Representative with Aetna Insurance Company in Hartford, Conn., retiring in 1990.  She was licensed with the National Association of Security Dealers and earned the designation of Certified Professional Insurance Woman from the National Association of Insurance Women.  For many years, she was an active volunteer for the Massachusetts Executive Office of Elder Affairs.  In addition, she was very patriotic, even dressing as Betsy Ross and sewing the American flag while riding on a float in a 4th of July Parade in 1997.  Gloria had a friendly, cheerful smile as well as a great sense of humor and adventure.  One of her interests was visiting other countries.  She traveled to Europe and South America. S he cruised the Panama Canal and the Caribbean.  And, most recently, she toured Egypt.  In 2009, she relocated to South Carolina, thoroughly enjoying the warm, mild climate while residing close to relatives.  She was a member of Christ the King Lutheran Church and participated in various programs at Senior Action, both in Greenville, S.C.  She leaves her daughter, Lynne M. Foley, of Ewing, N.J.; her daughter-in-law, Cherryl Feighn, and husband, David; her granddaughter, Sarah Westbrook, and husband, Cale; her grandson, Sean Feighn; and her great-grandson, Sawyer Westbrook, all of Greer, S.C., and several nieces.  A Memorial Service will be held on Sunday, August 3rd, at 2:00 p.m. at the Forastiere Smith Funeral Home, 220 North Main Street, East Longmeadow.  Relatives and friends are invited to an hour of visitation from 1:00-2:00 p.m. prior to her service at the funeral home.  Contributions in her memory may be directed to: a charity of choice, Anchor House or Christ the King Lutheran Church.

- Springfield Republican (Springfield, MA), Saturday, 26 Feb 1944:  Girl Hit by Bus while Riding Bike is Severely Hurt - Gloria Peets, 14, Crawls Out from under Vehicle - Condition Fair Despite Multiple Injuries:  While riding her bicycle in the sidewalk in front of 2594 Main street last night at 7:12, Gloria Peets, 14, of 40 Arch street was struck by a Street Railway company bus, as it swung into a driveway there, and was pitched under the vehicle.  Although severely injured, the girl crawled from under the machine.  She sustained possible fractures of the skull, nose and left hand, a lacerated scalp and abrasions of the left leg, right thigh and right shin.  Later in the night at Springfield hospital, she was reported in fair condition.  Her name had not been placed on the danger list.  Witnesses of the accident said the girl's mother, Mrs. Henry Peets, hurried to the scene of the accident and fainted when she saw her daughter underneath the vehicle.  According to the police report, Theodore G. Grondski, 21, of 271 Redlands street was driving the bus north on Main street when he swung the big vehicle in a left turn into the driveway at 2594 Main street.  The bus struck the Peets girl, who was riding on her bicycle on the west sidewalk of Main street.  After the victim had crawled from underneath the bus, she was placed in the police ambulance and removed to Springfield hospital.

 

Richard Raymond Peets:  Sunday Republican (MA), 16 May 1999:  Springfield--Richard R. Peets, 62, of 27 Daytona St., died Friday at home.  He was the owner and operator of Asset Cutting Dies Inc. of East Longmeadow.  He was a lifelong resident here, graduating from Springfield Trade High School.  He was a communicant of Holy Name Church.  He was an Army veteran of the Korean War.  He leaves his wife, the former Edith G. Loomer; four daughters, Lorie R. Pieterse, Debra J. Sumcizk and Darlene F. Horowitz, all of Springfield, and Karen L. Liapes of Crown Point, Ind.; a sister, Gloria Simmons of East Longmeadow; and three grandchildren.  The funeral will be Monday morning at Forastiere-Smith Funeral Home, East Longmeadow, and in the church, with burial in St. Michael's Cemetery.  Calling hours are this afternoon and evening.  Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, 53 Capital Drive, West Springfield, MA 01089.
