Obituary: The Courier (Houma, LA), Thursday, 16 December 1971: Funeral services for Harris E. Pitre, 70, of Bayou Blue, will be held at 10 a.m. Friday in St. Louis Catholic Church in Bayou Blue. Burial in the church cemetery will be under the direction of First National Funeral Home. Pitre, a retired farmer and school bus driver, died at 3 a.m. today at his home. He was a member of the Holy Name Society of St. Louis Church. Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Leona C. Cadiere Pitre, his mother, Mrs. Clara Thibodeaux Pitre; three brothers, Evans and Eustis Pitre, both of Houma, and Virgis Pitre of Franklin; and five sisters, Mrs. Eddie Babin, Mrs. Ismay Duplantis, Mrs. Bernard LeBoeuf and Mrs. Leah Pitre, all of Houma, and Mrs. Louis Bourgeois of Thibodaux. He was the son of the late Augustine Pitre. Preceding him in death was a son, Ira John Pitre of Houma. Visitation will begin at 2 p.m. today with a Rosary being recited at 7 p.m.

Visitation is from Sunday 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. and Monday from 8 a.m. until funeral time at Chauvin Funeral Home in Houma. Mass will be at 10 a.m. at St. Louis Catholic Church in Bayou Blue, with burial in the church cemetery. She was survived by her brother, Godfrey Cadiere of Houma, and sisters, Florence Jaccuzzo, Vivian Babin, both of Houma, and Hadi Porche of Lafourche Parish. She was preceded in death by her husband, Harris Pitre; parents Eugene and Selma Gros Cadiere; son, Ira Pitre; brothers, Louis Liley and Ernest Cadiere; and sisters, Naomi Caro and Vera Duncan. She was a parishioner of St. Louis Catholic Church.
