Obituary: Lafourche Daily Comet (Thibodaux,
LA), Thursday, 10 November 1938: Mr. Charley Andrew Pitre, a
worthy citizen of the town of Thibodaux, died last Thursday afternoon at 6 P.M.,
his age being 64 years, 11 months and 3 days. The funeral was held
Saturday at 10 A.M., at St. Joseph's Catholic church. The deceased is
survived by his wife, he having had no children. The couple lived happily
together for many years until death caused eternal separation. We are not
familiar with all of Mr. Pitre's life, but, we understand that for 12 years, he
was an assistant to Chief Engineer Octave Naquin, at the Thibodaux powerhouse,
he losing out in 1930 when there was a change in the town's administration.
While there he proved to be steady and dependable man, who also rendered
commendable service. As a citizen he was quiet and courteous and readily
won the friendship of those with whom he had business or social relations.
