Obituary:  Watertown Daily Times (Watertown, NY), Friday, 1 June 1984:  Harold Lashomb, 71, of 259 Valley Drive, Syracuse, a Watertown native and former Potsdam resident, died Thursday evening at Community General Hospital, Syracuse, where he had been admitted May 19.  He had been in failing health the past year.  The funeral will be 2 p.m. Saturday at the Frederick Brothers Funeral Home, Theresa, with Rev. Walter Giles, pastoral associate at Trinity Episcopal Church, officiating.  Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery, Theresa.  There will be no calling hours.  He is survived by his wife, Dorothy; a daughter, Mrs. Wilbur (Suzanne) Hodges, Rochester; and two sons, Herbert, Helmetta, N.J., and Dr. James Lashomb, East Windsor, N.J., a professor at Rutger's University, New Brunswick, N.J.  Born July 20, 1912 in Watertown, a son of Victor and Emma Marsh Lashomb, he was graduated from Watertown High School in 1931 and married Dorothy Kelsey, Theresa, Jan. 18, 1934.  The couple lived 30 years in Potsdam, moving to Syracuse in 1966.  Mr. Lashomb was a retired truck driver for the Ward Baking Company.  He was a member of Trinity Episcopal Church and was a charter member of the Potsdam Elks Club.

Herbert Paul Lashomb:  The Central New Jersey Home News (New Brunswick, NJ), Tuesday, 26 August 1997:  (photo)  Herbert P. Lashomb, a former Helmetta Borough councilman, former deputy clerk for state Superior Court, and former Middlesex County Clerk died Wednesday at JFK Medical Center, Edison.  He was 62.  He was born in Watertown, N.Y., had lived in Spotswood before moving to Helmetta 26 years ago.  In 1992, Mr. Lashomb became the first Republican ever elected to the Helmetta Borough Council.  He stepped down from the post in 1995 to become deputy clerk of state Superior Court.  He also served as county clerk from 1991 to 1994, and as deputy county clerk since 1994.  He worked for Bristol-Myers Squibb Corp. from 1961 to 1991.  "He was extremely proud to be clerk," said Dr. Sam Thompson, who was serving as Middlesex County Republican Chairman when Lashomb became county clerk.  "He was a wonderful person, and a great friend," the Old Bridge resident said last night.  "He really cared about people.  To know him was to love him."  Lashomb also served on the executive board of the Kiddie Keep Well Camp, Edison, and was a former member of the Spotswood First Aid Squad.  Surviving are his wife, the former Anna J. McVaugh; a son, Stephen M. of Hazlet; a brother, James of East Windsor; a sister, Suzanne Hodges of Rochester, N.Y.; four grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren.  A memorial service will be held at 11:30 a.m. Saturday at St. George's Episcopal Church, Helmetta.  Memorial contributions may be made to the St. George's Church Memorial Funeral Fund.  Arrangements are by the Lester Memorial Home, Jamesburg.
