MISC: The Moncton Transcript (Moncton, NB), Friday, 17 October 1941: Two brothers, both Moncton men, met recently in England for the first time in six years. In a letter received by Mrs. Bernice Peters from her husband, Henry Peters, a member of the 14th Field Ambulance, he told of meeting his brother Blair who enlisted shortly after the outbreak of war with the Seaforth Highlanders in Vancouver. Henry spent a few days leave with his brother at Lentsfield, Surrey. Chloris Peters, this city, is a brother of the two soldiers.

Obituary: The Times Transcript (Moncton, NB), Friday, 3 July 1936: The death of Mrs. George Pitre, 132 Bromley avenue, wife of George Pitre of the C.N.R. office staff, occurred at the Hotel Dieu Wednesday at the age of 50 years. The late Mrs. Pitre was held in high esteem by a wide circle of friends and acquaintances, who will regret to learn of her passing. She was a member of l'Assomption Church and was formerly Miss Demerise Roy, of St. Mary's, Kent County. Four sons and three daughters survive. They are Clorice, Blair, Henry and Albany, at home, and Georgine, Lydia and Stella, at home, and two stepsons, Joseph, of the post office staff, and Eddie, of Rogersville, and one stepdaughter, Mrs. Isidore Doucett, of Rogersville. Six brothers and five sisters also survive. The brothers are Thomas Roy, of New York; Cyril, of Everett, Mass.; Fred, of Lynn; Arthur, Clorice and Adolphe, of St. Mary's. The sisters are Mrs. Madeline LeBlanc, Mrs. J. Poirier, Mrs. H. Cormier, Misses Excelda and Jeanne, all of St. Mary's, and Mrs. Flora Cormier, of Moncton.

She was 88. Born at St. Mary, Kent County, she was a daughter of the late Alex and Margaret (Cormier) Roy. A member of the CWL, she attended Our Lady of Grace Roman Catholic Church. Her husband died in 1966. She is survived by two step-daughters, Mrs. Laurie Melanson (Lydia) of Fox Creek and Mrs. Georgina Roy of Moncton; five step-sons, Henry and Edward, both of Moncton, Albany of Val Cartier, Que., Blair of Kelona, B.C. and Joseph Pitre of Shediac; three sisters, Mrs. Herve Cormier (Angelina) of Coates Mills, Miss Jan Roy and Miss Exelda Roy, both of St. Mary; one brother, Adolphe Roy of Massachusetts, and by a number of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. The body is resting at Tuttle Brothers' funeral home, Moncton. The funeral mass will be celebrated at 4 p.m. Friday at Our Lady of Grace Roman Catholic Church with interment in Our Lady of Calvary Roman Catholic Cemetery.

Born in Rogersville, he was a son of the late George and Susanne Anne (Doucett) Pitre. He was a postman for 35 years before retirement. He attended the St. Joseph Roman Catholic Church, Shediac, and was a member of the Club Age d'Or of Shediac. He is survived by his wife, the former Florine Gallant; two sisters, Mrs. Georgina Roi of Moncton, Mrs. Laurie Melanson (Lidia) of Fox Creek; four brothers, Edward and Henrie, both of Moncton, Blair and Albenie, both of Kelowna, B.C. The body is resting at Frenette's funeral home, Shediac. The funeral mass will be celebrated Tuesday at 9:30 a.m. in the St. Joseph Roman Catholic Church, Shediac. Interment will be in the St. Joseph Roman Catholic Cemetery, Shediac.

Pitre, 78, of 106 Humphrey St., Moncton, died at the Moncton Hospital Wednesday after a lengthy illness. Born in Collette, he was a son of the late George and Lucy (Doucette) Pitre. He was a retired driver with the Moncton Grey Bus Line. His wife, the former Florence Gallant, died several years ago. He is survived by four daughters, Mrs. Douglas Higgs (Shirley), Riverview; Mrs. Lillian Dobson, Mrs. Jacqueline Leaman and Mrs. Victor LeBlanc (Phyllis), all of Moncton; three sons, Edward, Gerry and Billy, all of Moncton; two half-sisters, Georgina Roy, Moncton; Lydia LeBlanc, Dieppe; three half-brothers, Henry Peters, Moncton, Blair Peters, British Columbia; Ben Peters, Fredericton; 16 grandchildren, one great-grandchild and several nieces and nephews. Joseph Clorice Pitre: The Moncton Transcript (Moncton, NB), Monday, 24 June 1946: The body of Chloris Pitre of Georgetown was discovered at noon yesterday in a shallow creek near Georgetown by two residents who were walking in the vicinity. He had been missing from his home since 6 o'clock Saturday evening and it is believed that he might have been taken ill and fallen into the creek. At the point where the body was found the water was approximately 14 inches deep. Dr. P. McL. Atkinson, county coroner, said last evening that no inquest would be held in connection with the death.

A member of St. Augustine's Roman Catholic Church, he was retired from #5 Supply Depot in Moncton, having over 40 years service. He was a veteran of WW II with the 14th field ambulance. He enjoyed golfing and spending an occasional winter in Florida. He is survived by his daughter, Sheila MacDonald (Allen) of Moncton; grandchildren, Jeffrey, Rachel and Mark (Tina) MacDonald; a great-grandson, Scott MacDonald; and a sister, Lydia Melanson of Fox Creek. He was also predeceased by half-brothers, Joe and Eddy; half-sister, Helen; brothers, Blair, Albenie 'Ben' and Cloris; sisters, Stella and Georgina. There will be no visitation at the request of Henry's family. Funeral Mass will be held at St. Augustine's Roman Catholic Church on Tuesday, December 7, 2004 at 10:00 am with Fr. She attended Our Lady of Grace Roman Catholic Church and was a member of the executive of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Royal Canadian Legion, branch No. 6. Her husband, the late Aurele J. LeBlanc, predeceased her on April 9, 1958. She is survived by two daughters, Gloria at home and Mrs. Laurie Caissie (Patricia), Moncton; two sisters, Mrs. Edmond Roy (Georgina), Moncton, and Mrs. Laurie Melanson (Lydia), Fox creek; five brothers, Henry Peters, Moncton, Joseph Peters, Shediac, Albany Peters, Canadian Forces Base, Quebec; Blair Peters, Kelowna, B.C.; and Edward Peters, Moncton; one grandchild, and several nieces and nephews. She was the last surviving member of her family having been predeceased by her husband, Laurie in 1999; one son, Normand; two sisters: Georgina and Stella; one half-sister, Helene; four brothers: Henry, Blair, Albenie and Cloris and also by two half-brothers: Joseph and Eddy. Visitation will be held from Chartersville Funeral Home, Dieppe, NB, on Tuesday, December 18th, 2007, from 7 to 9 pm.
