Constance Evelyn Joan Lajambe:  Hardy, Connie (nee Lejambe) - Connie Hardy had as many different roles in her life as she had names.  She was born Constance Evelyn Joan Lejambe in Timmins, Ont. on Sept. 19, 1924.  She was first a daughter to Gilbert and Jane Lejambe and a sister to her seven brothers and sisters.  She then became a student and even sang on local radio.  When the Second World War began she became a servicewoman, enlisting in the Canadian Women's Army Corps.  She served in Guelph and Hamilton and was promoted to corporal.  The experience fueled her independent spirit.  After the war, she returned to Timmins and found new roles as a wife and mother.  She married Donald Hardy and they had three children.  She was also a municipal employee in Sudbury and a breadwinner, working for a number of firms in Toronto.  Her favourite position was with the Canadian Corps of Commissionaires.  She became a grandmother, first to Natalya and later to Anne.  After Don's death in 1989, she was a traveler, especially enjoying Italy.  She was a volunteer with the Oshawa General Hospital Auxiliary, the Oshawa AIDS Committee and the Oshawa Senior Citizens' Centre.  She also taught new Canadians English language and reading skills.  In all these roles, she developed strong opinions on many issues and was known to express them.  She was a lifelong Montreal Canadiens fan.  Connie Hardy died June 10 at Lakeridge Health Oshawa with family by her side.  The family would like to thank the staff of 3F for the exceptional care they provided.  She is survived by son Gilbert, daughter-in-law Pegeen Walsh and granddaughter Anne, Toronto; daughter Elizabeth, Toronto; grand-daughter Natalya Anderson and husband Neil Anderson, London, UK, and daughter Janet Bidgood and partner Brian Arscott, Oshawa.  She is also survived by sisters Colleen Belfitt, Onaping, and Madeline Bonneville, Elliott Lake.  A family internment will be held at a later date.  She and Don will be interred with the gold and crystal rosary he gave her on their wedding day.  Donations to 3F Education Fund at Lakeridge Health Oshawa or to Denise House women's shelter would be appreciated.
