Harold Ray Pitre: Baton Rouge Advocate (LA),
Thursday, 7 April 2016 - Harold Ray Pitre passed away
peacefully on April 3, 2016 after a long and courageous battle with cancer.
He was born in Alexandria, LA on June 27, 1933. He was a resident of St. Francisville, where he was a member of First Baptist Church and was a long time
member of Foster Road Baptist Church in Baton Rouge and served as Deacon.
After graduating from Istrouma High School in 1952, he served his country during
the Korean War as a Navy Ceremonial Guard in Washington DC. Harold retired
from Exxon Mobil with 40 years of service. During that time, he was a Boy
Scout Leader, refereed high school ball games and held a real estate and
insurance license. Harold was a 57 year member of the International Lions
Club having achieved the status of District Governor. He was currently
serving as President of the Lake Shore Club. He enjoyed LSU basketball
games and playing golf and was a member of The Bluffs Golf Resort. Harold
is survived by his wife of 63 years, Shirley Day Pitre; and his five
daughters and son in laws, Lou Ann and Dr. Jerry Thomas of Franklinton,
Susan and Richard Love of Central, Karen and Jimmy Miller
of Greensburg, Laura and Jerry Jones of Clinton and Carol and Todd
Campbell of Baker, his grandsons, Dr. Jason Thomas, Pete Thomas, Lander
Thomas, Jim Miller, Christopher Jones, Jarred Jones and Wyatt Campbell,
granddaughters, Cathy Mason, Jennifer Wilkinson, Joanna Thomas and Morgan
Campbell and his great-grandchildren, Jon-Ashton, Cole, Jesse, Connor,
Hunter, Lily, Abrie, Landry, Katelynn, Evelyn and Rush. He is also
survived by a brother, Tommy Brister. Harold was preceded in death
by parents, Lillie Pitre Brister and George Albert Pitre, brothers,
George Pitre, Jr., and Robert E. Pitre and grandson, Jonathan Love.
Pallbearers will be his seven grandsons. Visitation will be at Charlet
Funeral Home, Inc., Zachary on Sunday, April 10, 2016 from 5:00 pm until 8:00 pm
and on Monday, April 11, 2016 from 10:00 am until service time at 11:30 am
conducted by Bro. Scott Owens. A 12:30 pm graveside service will follow at
Louisiana National Cemetery in Zachary.
