died last night at 10 o’clock at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Nellie DeVoe,
106 Bridge Street. She was in her 99th year. Mrs. Peets, nee
Elizabeth Laraby, was born at Green Bay, Wis., on Dec. 28, 1849, a daughter
of Mr. and Mrs. Edward Larabee. She was the widow of Frank Peets,

death, he and Mrs. Peets resided at Chateaugay Lake, Lyon Mountain and at Tupper
Lake, where they operated a hotel. In 1911 Mrs. Peets moved to Plattsburgh
with her children and purchased the historic Greene residence at the corner of
Bridge and Peru streets, where she had since resided. Mrs. Peets was a
Gold Star mother, having lost a son, Norman, during World War I. A
communicant of St. Peter’s Church, Mrs. Peets took an active interest in
parochial affairs for many years until failing health forced her retirement from
these activities. In recent years she contributed a number of sets of
vestments for use at St. Peter’s. One, a set of vestments for requiem
Masses, she requested be used at her own funeral Mass. Mrs. Peets was the
mother of nine children, seven boys and two girls. Only Mrs. DeVoe
survives. Also surviving are five grandchildren, including Howard
Crowder of Plattsburgh; three great-grandchildren and one
great-great-grandchild.
