Obituary:  The Guardian (Charlottetown, PEI), Wednesday, 2 September 1964:  Pitre - At the Western Hospital, Tuesday, Sept. 1, 1964, Frank Pitre, Tignish Shore in his 64th year.  Forwarded from the Rooney Funeral Home to his late residence from where the funeral will be held Thursday, Sept. 3, leaving the home at 8:45 to St. Simon and St. Jude's Church, Tignish, for Requiem High Mass at 9 o'clock.  Interment in the church cemetery.

 

Obituaries for the children:

Leonard Joseph Pitre:  Charlottetown Guardian (PEI), Friday, 23 July 1954:  Find Body of Tignish Shore Man - The body of Joseph Leo Peters of Tignish Shore was found yesterday morning floating face down approximately two miles off shore in a seven fathom depth of water about one quarter mile from where he was lost overboard on May 31st, while engaging in fishing operations with his brother Alyre.  The remains were found by Benjamin Pitre and John Leclair, Tignish fisherman who notified the Alberton detachment of the R.C.M.P.  Dr. W. A. Shea, coroner of Alberton was called to the scene and after examination of the remains decided that death was due to drowning and that an inquest would not be necessary.  The remains were identified by the victim's father Mr. Frank Peters, Tignish Run.  The funeral will take place at nine o'clock Saturday morning.

 

Doris M. Pitre:  Peacefully at the Margaret Stewart Ellis Home, O’Leary on Saturday October 9, 2021 of Doris M. Bernard formerly of Tignish aged 90 years.  She was born in Tignish Shore on January 19, 1931, the daughter of the late Frank and Rosie (Arsenault) Pitre.  Loving mother to Rose Bernard (Greg), Paul Bernard, Lloyd Bernard (Pam), Gussie Bernard (Heather).  Cherished grandmother to Tina, Chris, Mike, Kendall, Keegan, Kolby, Cody, Pamela, Ron, Erica, Seth, Dyson, Kali, Devon and many great-grandchildren.  She is also survived by brothers and sisters Marie Doucette, Mary Ann Nelligan, Edmund “Buddy” Pitre (Brenda), Alvin Pitre (Nan).  She was predeceased by parents Frank and Rosie, daughters Angela Blanchard, Dianne Newsome, Anne Doris in infancy, granddaughter Tracy Jeffery, brothers Alyre (Alvina), Leo, Walter, Olive and Josephine.  Resting at the West Prince Funeral Home, Thompson Road.  Visiting hours for family and invited guests Tuesday 12:30 – 2:30 p.m.  All Covid restrictions will be followed (proof of two vaccines & ID to attend).  Funeral mass for family and invited guests will be held at Immaculate Conception Church, Palmer Road Tuesday afternoon at 3 p.m.  Memorial donations can be made to Children Wish Foundation.

 

Olive Mary Pitre:  Rooney Funeral Home (Alberton, PEI):  Olive Mary Gaudet  1933-2016 (photo) Olive Mary Gaudet (nee Pitre), born July 30, 1933, passed away on Thursday, June 2nd in Summerside, PEI.  After a hard fought battle she went peacefully into the hands of our maker.  Olive will be missed by many friends and family, but especially by her five children, Floyd Gaudet (Shirley Gaudet), Connie Rourke (Dan Rourke), Darlene Mulholland (Lyle Mulholland), Beverley Clarke (Charlie Jensen), and Vera Gaudet (Andrea Myroniuk); grandchildren, Sherry, Melanie, Kyle, Alyshia, Corey, Derek, Iris, Calvin, Jeff and Reese, and 10 great-grandchildren.  She is also survived by brothers and sisters, Edmond Pitre (Brenda), Alvin Pitre (Florence), Doris Bernard, Marie Doucette (late Ernest), Mary Ann Nelligan (Richard), also survived by her sister-in-law, Alvina Pitre (late Alyre).  She was predeceased by her parents: Rosie and Frank Pitre; brothers, Walter, Alyre, Leo, sister, Josephine; and grandchildren, Maxine and Lesley.  She was a spiritual lady of many talents that included author, piano player and avid traveller.  Resting at the Rooney Funeral Home, & Chapel Alberton.  Visiting hours Tuesday, 7 to 9 p.m. Only.  Funeral Wednesday afternoon from St. Simon and St. Jude Church, Tignish, for funeral mass at 3 p.m., Rev. Brendon Gallant, Celebrant.  Interment in the Church cemetery.  As an expression of sympathy memorials to the Local Food Bank would be gratefully appreciated.

Walter J. Pitre:  PEI Co-operative Funeral Homes – West Prince (Palmer Road, PEI):  Walter J. PitreThe death occurred ar the Prince County Hospital, Summerside on Tuesday June 27, 2006 of Walter J. Pitre of Newton and formerly of Tignish Shore aged 64 years.  Born Dec. 20, 1941, he was the son of the late Frank and Rosie (Arsenault) Pitre.  Dear brother of Doris Bernard, Tignish; Olive Gaudet, Calgary; Marie Doucette, Tignish; Mary Ann (Richard) Nelligan, Tignish; Buddy / Edmond (Brenda) Pitre, St. Felix and Alvin (Florence Ann) Pitre, Tignish Shore.  He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.  He was predeceased by his parents Frank and Rosie, brothers Leo and Alyre; a sister Josephine, brothers-in-law Ernest Doucette, Raymond Arsenault, Major Gaudet and a nephew Kevin Doucette.  Resting at the West Prince Funeral Home, Palmer Road for visiting hours Wednesday 7-9 pm, Thursday 7-9 pm only and Friday 9-10 am.  Funeral Friday with funeral mass at the St. Simon & St. Jude Church, Tignish at 10:30 am.  Memorial donations to the Palliative Care Unit of the Prince County Hospital or the Cancer Society would be greatly appreciated.
