Obituary:  Tupper Lake Free Press (NY), Thursday, 17 October 1940:  Fred Peets, 47, of Youngstown, N.Y., son of Mr. Bennie Peets of 66 McLaughlin Ave., Tupper Lake, was killed in an automobile accident Friday night when his car skidded on the Lewiston Hill pavement, crashed thru a guard rail and plunged over the embankment, dropping 50 feet, upside down into a clump of trees.  Mr. Peets suffered a fracture of the skull and his lung was punctured.  He lay beneath the car for six hours, unnoticed by hundreds of passing motorists, before the wreck was discovered.  Born in Chateaugay, N.Y., he had resided in Youngstown for the past 20 years.  Surviving besides his father are 11 children: Edward and Gerald Peets and Mrs. Albert Wills, all of Niagara Falls, and Raymond, Elizabeth, Dorothy, Mary, Veronica, Robert, Richard and Shirley Peets, all of Youngstown.  His wife died several years ago.  Funeral services were held Monday morning in Youngstown and burial was in the Riverdale Cemetery there. Those who attended the services from here were his father, Bennie Peets; his brothers, Joseph and Thomas Peets; his sisters, Miss Melvina Peets and Mrs. Henry LaBarge; his nephew, Lymond Peets, Frank Peets and Mr. LaBarge.

Edward A. Peete:  The Buffalo News (NY), Thursday, 21 October 1993:  Edward A. Peete, 79, a retired employee of E.I. du Pont de Nemours & Co., died Wednesday (Oct. 20, 1993) in his home on 90th Street.  A native of Piercefield, Peete was a longtime resident of Niagara Falls.  He worked for 15 years for Aluminum Company of America and then for 25 years as a boiler man for Du Pont until he retired in 1976.  Surviving are his wife, Catherine Lemen Peete; two sons, David of Las Vegas and Kenneth of Fullerton, Calif.; two daughters, Nancy Dowser of Upland, Calif., and Jeanette Smith of Hinsdale, Ill.; four brothers, Raymond of Ransomville, Robert of Sanborn, Richard of Silver Lake and Gerald; four sisters, Elizabeth Landers of Model City, Mary Jacobi of Diamond Bar, Calif., Veronica Brown of Lewiston and Shirley Hiddie of Youngstown; 13 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren.  Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday in Riverside Presbyterian Church, 84th Street and Lindbergh Avenue.  (Baldwin).

 

Irene G. Peets:  Niagara Falls Gazette (NY), Monday, 28 February 1972:  Mrs. Irene G. Wills, 55, of 447 Sixth St., died Sunday (Feb. 27, 1972) in Buffalo's Roswell Park Memorial Institute after a long illness.  Born in Piercefield, N.Y., she had lived in this city for 45 years.  Survivors include her husband, Albert Wills; a son, William Wills of Lewiston; five brothers, Edward, and Jeraud Peete of this city; Raymond Peete of Ransomville; Robert Peete of Sanborn; and Richard Peete of York, N.Y.; five sisters, Mrs. Donald (Elizabeth) Landers of Model City, Mrs. George (Dorothy) Curtis of Lewiston; Mrs. Robert (Mary) Jacobi of Brea, Calif.; Mrs. Kenneth (Veronica) Brown and Mrs. Richard (Shirley) Hiddie, both of Youngstown; two grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.  Funeral services will be held at the Lane Funeral Home at 8:45 a.m. Wednesday and at St. Mary of the Cataract Church at 9:30 a.m.  Friends may call from 7-9 p.m. today and from 2 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday.

Raymond W. Peete:  The Buffalo News (NY), Friday, 1 August 2003:  Raymond W. Peete of Ransomville, a World War II veteran and former steel drum manufacturer, died Tuesday (July 29, 2003) in Mount St. Mary's Hospital, Lewiston, after a short illness.  He was 84.  Born in Tupper Lake, Peete served in the Army during World War II and on until 1946 with the 10th Mountain Division, taking part in campaigns in the North Apennines, Po Valley and other operations in the European, African and Middle Eastern theaters.  In 1941, he married the former Mary Ann Obelich.  He worked for Greif Brothers, formerly International Cooperage, in Niagara Falls, as a steel drum manufacturer for 43 years, retiring in 1977.  He was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Ransomville and a former member of LaSalle Post 1142, American Legion, in Niagara Falls.  Surviving are his wife, Mary Ann; a daughter, Rosemary Rosati of the Town of Wilson; two sons, Raymond of Ransomville and Robert of Sanborn; four sisters, Elizabeth Landers of Model City, Veronica Brown of Lewiston, Mary Jacoby of California and Shirley Hiddie of Youngstown; and four grandchildren.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 10 a.m. Saturday in Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Ransomville.  Burial will be in North Ridge Cemetery, Town of Cambria.

Gerald J. Peete:  The Buffalo News (NY), Tuesday, 22 May 2001:  GERALD J. PEETE, DIE SETTER, VETERAN:  Gerald J. Peete, 80, who worked for 40 years as a die setter for Greif Brothers Corp. in Niagara Falls, died Monday (May 21, 2001) in St. Mary's Manor.  He was born in Tupper Lake and moved to Niagara Falls at the age of 2, living here since then and attending local schools.  Peete served in the Army during World War II and rose to the rank of master sergeant.  He was a member of LaSalle Post 1142, American Legion, in Niagara Falls and the Forty & 8.  Peete retired 17 years ago from Greif Brothers.  His wife, Olive O'Brien Peete, died in 1996.  Survivors include three sons, Gerald W. of Grand Island, Ronald J. of Folkston, Ga., and Frederick T. of Largo, Fla.; two daughters, Sue Ann Socko of Grand Island and Denise M. Sicoli of Lewiston; three brothers, Robert of Sanborn, Raymond of Cambria and Richard of Silver Lake; four sisters, Veronica Brown and Elizabeth Landers, both of Lewiston, Shirley Hiddie of Youngstown and Mary Jacoby of California; 19 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild.  Services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday in Lane Funeral Home, Inc., Niagara Falls.  Private burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery, Lewiston.

Dorothy Peete:  The Buffalo News (NY), Wednesday, 25 March 1992:  Dorothy P. Curtis, 67, of Ridge Road died Tuesday (March 24, 1992) in Niagara Falls Memorial Medical Center after a long illness.  A native of Niagara Falls, Mrs. Curtis lived in Youngstown before she moved to Lewiston.  She was a food service employee at Clark's Burger House for more than 30 years until she retired about a year ago.  Survivors include her husband, George F. Sr.; two sons, George F. Jr. and Michael J.; five brothers, Edward and Gerald Peete, both of Niagara Falls, Raymond Peete of Cambria, Robert Peete of Wheatfield and Richard Peete of York; four sisters, Elizabeth Landers of Model City, Mary Jacobi of Diamond Bar, Calif., Shirley Hiddie of Youngstown and Veronica Brown, and two grandchildren.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 10:30 a.m. Friday in St. Peter's Catholic Church, 600 Center St., with prayers at 10 in the Hardison Funeral Home, North Fourth and Ridge streets.  Burial will be in North Ridge Cemetery, Cambria.  (Baldwin).

Robert H. Peete:  Niagara Gazette (NY), Tuesday, 29 September 2015:  Robert H. Peete, age 85, of Wheatfield, entered into rest on September 29, 2015, at Eastern Niagara Hospital-Lockport site.  Born in Niagara Falls, NY on March 29, 1930, he was the son of the late Frederick and Violet (Bilson) Peete.  Robert served in the U.S. Navy from 1947-1952.  He was employed in construction with Operating Engineers Local 463, and for many years he and his wife, Beverly J. (Bement) Peete, who passed on February 19, 2013, ran Peete's Marlboro Inn, in Sanborn.  He was a member of the American Legion, Wheatfield Post 1451, enjoyed woodworking, and the time spent with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.  Survivors include a daughter, Penny Peete; five grandchildren, Lisa (Joseph) Castro, Matthew, Lori and Steven Burns, and Cody Kowal; five great-grandchildren, Isabella, Raelyn, Ava, Mykenzie and Olyvia; and three sisters, Veronica, Mary and Shirley.  Also predeceased by several other brothers and sisters.  Friends may call at the Dubois Funeral Home, 2436 Niagara Road, (Bergholz) in Wheatfield on Thursday from 4-7 p.m.  Services will be conducted by the Rev. Michael A. Keicher on Friday at 11:00 a.m. in the funeral home.  Interment will follow in North Ridge Cemetery, Cambria.

Shirley Peete:  Niagara Gazette (Niagara Falls, NY), Friday, 15 May 2020:  Shirley A. Hiddie June 27, 1933 - May 12, 2020:  Shirley A. Hiddie, age 86, of Youngstown, and wife of the late Richard A. Hiddie, entered into rest at the home of her daughter under the care of Hospice on May 12, 2020.  Shirley was born on June 27, 1933 in Niagara Falls, NY.  She is the daughter of the late Fred and Violet (Bilson) Peete.  She was raised by her uncle and aunt, Kenneth and Grace Coolaw.  Shirley graduated from the Youngstown Red Brick School in 1951.  She and Richard were married on November 29, 1952.  Richard predeceased her on August 18, 2018.  Shirley worked as a clerk for McCrory's Store in Lewiston for 15 years, retiring in 1998.  She enjoyed trips to the casino, wintering in Las Vegas, NV, fishing and spending time at their camp in Caneadea, NY.  Most of all, she enjoyed spending time with her great-grandchildren.  She was their "GiGi."  Shirley is survived by her children, Lynn (late Steven) Beahen of Youngstown, Douglas (Carol) Hiddie of Amherst and Jackie (Steve) Yousett of Lockport; her grandchildren, Brandi (Dean) Krassopoulos, Steven (Christine) Beahen, Katie (Jake) Rizzone, Derek (Leanne) Hiddie, Brendon (Casey) Hiddie, April (Chad) Weiser and Amanda Yousett; great-grandchildren, Kaliope, Matthew, Ellie, Ben, Natalie and Taylor; sisters, Mary Jacobi and Veronica Brown; sister-in-laws, Nancy Widdowson, Joyce Hughes and Linda Hiddie; also several nieces and nephews.  Shirley was predeceased by a daughter, Kathy Hiddie; brothers, Edward, Raymond, Gerald, Robert and Richard Peete; and sisters, Irene Wills, Elizabeth Landers and Dorothy Curtis.  The family would like to thank her nurse, Janice ,and the entire staff of Niagara Hospice.  Also, a special thank you to all the wonderful neighbors, who always looked out for our mom and dad.  Services will be privately held with Shirley's family.  Burial will be in Riverdale Cemetery in Lewiston, NY, with Rev. Dr. Rex Stewart officiating a graveside service.  Memorial donations may be made to Niagara Hospice, Lockport, NY.  Arrangements entrusted to Hardison Funeral Homes Inc.
