Obituary: Lake Charles American Press (Lake Charles, LA), Wednesday, 15 March 1967: Kinder - Funeral services Finest J. Pitre, 57, will be at 10 a.m. Thursday from St. Philip Neri Catholic Church with the Rev. A.J. Robichaud, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in the Liberty Cemetery under direction of Ardoin Funeral Home. A rosary will be recited at 8 p.m. today. Mr. Pitre died at 8:30 p.m. Tuesday at his home, following a heart attack. He was a lifelong resident of Kinder and a member of the Knights of Columbus, Kinder Council 2893, and a retired farmer and cattleman. He was a member of the Allen Parish Cattlemen's Association and of the Woodmen of the World. At the time of his death, he was serving on the committee board of the Allen Parish FHA, and was employed by the Louisiana Department of Safety. Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Estelle O. Pitre; one son, Howard Pitre of Kinder; one daughter, Mrs. Ronald Johnson of Iowa; one sister, Mrs. Ed Miller of Lake Charles, and one grandchild.

Obituary: The Kinder Courier News (Kinder, LA), Wednesday, 20 October 1971: Funeral services for Mrs. Estelle Pitre, 60, of Kinder were held last Monday at 10 a.m. at St. Philip Neri Catholic Church, Msgr. A.J. Robichaud, pastor, officiated. Burial was in the Liberty Cemetery with the Ardoin Funeral Home in charge. Mrs. Pitre, a life long resident of the Kinder area, died at 9:50 Saturday in the Allen Parish Hospital in Kinder. She was a member of the St. Philip Neri Altar Society and a charter member of Court St. Philip Neri Catholic Daughters of America. She was active in both organizations. Surviving are a son, Howard Pitre of Kinder; a daughter, Mrs. Wanda Johnson of Iowa; four brothers, Oscar, Eloi, and Sidney Ortego, all of Kinder and Jerome Ortego of Elton; two sisters, Mrs. Joe Courville of Elton and Mrs. Leon LaFleur of Kinder and three grandchildren. Pall bearers were her nephews, John Hamilton, Eastman Moreau, Elliott Ortego, Kenneth Fontenot, Wylace Vincent and Chester Rozas.

Rev. Fr. Alan Trouille will officiate. Howard will be laid to rest at Liberty Cemetery in Elton immediately following his services. Howard's family will accept friends and visitors at Ardoin/Allen Parish Funeral Home of Kinder, on Wednesday, December 20, 2023, from 9:30 a.m. until time of service with the Holy Rosary being prayed at 10:30 a.m. All of Howard's arrangements have been entrusted to the care of Ardoin/Allen Parish Funeral Home of Kinder. Howard was a loving husband and friend. He was an affectionate and faithful husband to his wife Thelma for 46 years. Howard was a man of strong faith and was very proud of his Catholic heritage. He was an avid animal lover and loved to feed the squirrels and birds. He was passionate about clocks and loved to work on old railroad pocket watches and clocks. He loved the outdoors where he enjoyed gardening, target practicing, but most of all, spending time at his camp on Toledo Bend Reservoir where he camped and fished. He worked hard driving his own truck to provide for himself and his wife. Howard enjoyed friendship and loved riding around his neighborhood and visiting all his friends and neighbors. He was a kind and caring person and will be unconditionally loved and forever missed by all who knew him. Those left to cherish Howard's memory include his wife, Thelma Pitre of Orange, TX. Howard is preceded in death by his parents Finest and Estel Pitre; one son, Kurt Pitre; and one sister, Wanda Pitre. Howard's family would like to express a special thank you to his caregiver Missy for all her love and care that she so gracefully gave during this time. Howard's family has also requested that in lieu of flowers donations in his memory be made to the Alzheimer's foundation.
