Obituary:  Morning Sentinel (Waterville, ME), Tuesday, 31 October 1978:  Francis (Frank) J. Peters, 62, of 38 Maple St. died late Sunday evening at the Veterans Administration Hospital in Togus after a long illness.  He was born in Skowhegan Aug. 31, 1916, son of Taswell and Adeline (Goulet) Peters.  He was a member of the Forest J. Pare Post, VFW, and Bourque-Lanigan Post, American Legion.  He is survived by his wife, Dorothy (Carey) Peters; two sons, Maurice Peters of Anchorage, Alaska, and Michael Peters of North Carolina; two daughters, Mrs. James (Sheilla) Ratte of Fairfield and Mrs. Patricia Donlin of Waterville; two sisters, Thelma Vigue of Skowhegan, and Irene Guriano of Old Orchard Beach; 5 grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.  Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the J. Ovide Gallant Funeral Home.  Friends may call at the funeral home today from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m.

Obituary:  Morning Sentinel (Waterville, ME), Friday, 24 January 2003:  Canaan - Madeline L. Salsbury, 86, of Canaan, died Thursday, Jan. 23, 2003, at the home of her daughter.  She was born Oct. 7, 1916, in Dracut, Mass., daughter of Herbert and Fern Lyon.  Madeline loved knitting and sewing.  She also enjoyed feeding hummingbirds and gardening.  She was a homemaker for most of her life.  Survivors include her husband, Everett Sr. of Canaan; three daughters, Sheila Ratte and husband, James, of Fairfield, Mary Lou Vigue and husband, Bruce, of Calimesa, Calif., Charlotte Spooner and husband, Danny, of Norridgewock; one son, Everett Salsbury of Canaan; five grandchildren, Darlene Ratte, Rodney K. Vigue, Tina Meservey, and Michael and Shelly Spooner; four great-grandchildren, Cody, Bret and Kala Meservey, and Chase Vigue; one sister, Ida Amy Southworth of Dracut, Mass.; several nieces and nephews; a very special nephew, Herb, and a special niece, Cook.  She was predeceased by a son, Maurice G. Peters, and a daughter, Raylene F. Salsbury.  She leaves behind her chocolate Siamese cat, Pierre.  A graveside service will be held in the spring.  Arrangements are under the direction of the Smart & Edwards Funeral Home, Skowhegan.  Donations in Madeline's memory may be made to the American Heart Association, South Portland, ME; American Cancer Society, Topsham, ME; and HealthReach Homecare and Hospice, Skowhegan, ME.

Maurice Gene Peters:  Anchorage Times (Anchorage, AK), Thursday, 29 August 1991:  Anchorage resident, Maurice Gene 'Chester' Peters, 55, died Aug. 27, 1991, at Providence Hospital.  He was born April 13, 1937, in Skowhegan, Maine.  Mr. Peters served four years in the U.S. Air Force before coming to Alaska in 1962.  He made his home in Anchorage where he was co-owner of a drilling service company, S&P Enterprises.  Mr. Peters was an active outdoorsman and an active member of the 'Avenue Barflies', a co-ed softball team.  He is survived by two sons, Chester Pence and Rudy D'Apice of Anchorage; mother and stepfather, Madelin and Everett Salsbury Sr. of Canaan, Maine; four sisters, Mary Lou Vigue of Moreno Valley, Calif., Sheila Ratte of Fairfield, Maine, Charlotte Spooner of Norridgewolk, Maine; Raylene Salsbury of Skowhegan, Maine; brother, Everett Salsbury Jr. of Canaan, Maine, and many close friends.  A memorial service is scheduled Friday at 4 p.m. at Evergreen Memorial Chapel.  The Rev. William Burke, S.J., of Providence Hospital, will officiate.  Arrangements by Evergreen Memorial Chapel, Downtown.
