Obituary:  North Bay Nugget (North Bay, ONT), Friday, 15 June 1934:  Mattawa, June 15 - The funeral took place on Thursday morning of the late John LaJambe, who died Monday at his home, Rosemount.  Service was held in St. Ann's Roman Catholic Church and Interment in the Roman Catholic cemetery.  Mr. LaJambe was an elderly man and had been in poor health for some time.

Obituary:  North Bay Nugget (North Bay, ONT), Wednesday, 8 April 1970:  Mattawa - A resident of Cassellholme, Mrs. John Arthur Lajambe died Tuesday in hospital at North Bay following a short illness.  She was 82.  Friends may pay their respects at the M. O. Edwards Funeral Home, Mattawa.  The funeral mass will be offered Friday at 11 a.m. at St. Anne Church and interment will be at the parish cemetery.  Emma Lajambe was born May 18, 1887, at Mattawa, daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Isreal Therrien.  She was educated at Mattawa, where she married John Arthur Lajambe at St. Anne Church June 19, 1905.  Mrs. Lajambe, who attended St. Anne Church, was instrumental in founding the Catholic Women's League in Mattawa and was one of the charter members of the league.  She was predeceased by her husband in 1934 and by two sons and a daughter.  Surviving are two sons: Raphael, Serpent River, and Leonard, Mattawa, and three daughters: Mrs. Richard Barrer (Hilda), Eau Claire; Mrs. Joe Fleury (Gladys), North Bay, and Mrs. Edmund Robitaille (Dora), Mattawa.

Jean Arthur Gilbert Lajambe:  North Bay Nugget (North Bay, ONT), Monday, 7 February 1966:  Mattawa - A longtime employee of Yeyerhaeuser Ltd., Arthur Lajambe, 59, died suddenly on Sunday, Feb. 6.  His wife is the former Mildred Armstrong.  Requiem High Mass will be conducted on Wednesday, Feb. 9 at Ste. Anne's Catholic Church, with interment at St. Anne's Parish Cemetery.  Friends may pay their respects at Edwards Funeral Home, Mattawa.

John Israel Wilfrid Lajambe:  North Bay Nugget (North Bay, ONT), Saturday, 15 November 1958:  Mattawa - A large gathering attended the funeral services Thursday, for Wilfred Lajambe who died suddenly on Nov. 10 in Mattawa.  Mr. Lajambe was born in Mattawa in 1910, the son of Mrs. John Lajambe and the late Mr. Lajambe.  In 1936 he married the former Alice Armstrong in Mattawa.  Prior to moving to Mattawa in 1941 the Lajambes lived in Temiskaming.  Mr. Lajambe was an assistant lathe operator at the Guelph Plywood Company, Mattawa.  Surviving besides his wife and mother, are two sons, Morley and Bobby, both at home; one daughter, Mrs. Beverley Robinson (Jessie), Thorne; three brothers, Arthur and Travius of Mattawa, and Raphael of Bancroft; three sisters, Mrs. Joseph Fleurie and Mrs. Ed Robitaille, of Mattawa, Mrs. Richard Barr, Eau Claire; and one grandchild.  Pall-bearers were Arthur Lajambe, Travius Lajambe, Victor Armstrong, Raphael Lajambe, Arthur Armstrong, Morley Armstrong.  Services were held from St. Anne's Roman Catholic Church, Mattawa, with Rev. W. H. Lafrance officiating, assisted by Rev. Tardiff.  Interment was made in St. Anne's Cemetery.

Eva Lajambe:  North Bay Nugget (North Bay, ONT), Friday, 8 January 1943:  Mattawa, Jan. 8 - Rev. T. Tait conducted funeral mass for the late Mrs. Albert Poirier on Tuesday, January 5, and interment took place in the Roman Catholic cemetery.  The late Mrs. Poirier, who was 29 years of age at the time of her death on Sunday, January 3, had been in poor health for two years.  She was born in Mattawa, the daughter of Mrs. Emma Lajambe and the late John Lajambe, and was married here in 1930 to Albert Poirier, who survives her.  She also resided in Calvin township for a time.  Pall-bearers at the funeral were Joseph Fleurie, Arthur Lajambe, Wilfred Lajambe, Richard Barr, M. J. Blake and George Blake.  The late Mrs. Poirier is survived by her husband and mother; four children, Geraldine, Viola, Shirley and Albert, and seven sisters and brothers.  The latter are Mrs. Joseph Fleurie, Mrs. R. Barr and Dora Lajambe, Wilfred, Arthur, Traibus and Pte. Rayfield Lajambe.  Among those who attended the funeral were Mrs. J. Turner, Mrs. J. Simon, Mr. and Mrs. W. Bourke, all of North Bay, and Mrs. E. Soucie and Mrs. S. Soucie, Calvin.

 

Gladys Viola Lajambe:  North Bay Nugget (North Bay, ONT), Thursday, 14 October 1993:  Fleurie, Gladys Viola - At North Bay, Wednesday, October 13, 1993, Gladys Lajambe, beloved wife of the late Joseph Hercules Fleurie, in her 75th year.  Loving mother of Emery (Dianna) of Holtyre, Linda Doyle (Laurence) and Betty Dufresne (Larry), all of North Bay.  Lovingly remembered by 11 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.  Dear sister of Dora Robitaille of Mattawa.  Family receiving friends at the McGuinty Funeral Home, this evening from 7 to 10 p.m. and Friday from 2 to 5 and 7 to 10 p.m.  Funeral mass will be celebrated at Corpus Christi Church Saturday at 9:30 a.m.  Interment Mattawa Cemetery.

Mary Hilda Lajambe:  North Bay Nugget (North Bay, ONT), Monday, 30 April 1979:  Mattawa - A well-known resident of Mattawa, Hilda Barrer, died in Mattawa General Hospital April 28 following an illness of about two months.  Friends may pay their respects at the Edwards Funeral Home, Mattawa after 7 p.m. tonight.  Funeral services will be held at St. Andrew's-in-the-Pines United Church, Mattawa, May 2 at 2 p.m.  Interment will be at the Eau Claire Cemetery.  Mrs. Barrer was born May 14, 1921 at Mattawa and was the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. John Lajambe of Mattawa.  On July 7, 1938 she married Richard Barrer at Mattawa.  Mr. Barrer predeceased her during October 1977.  Mrs. Barrer was an active member of the Ladies' Auxiliary to Branch 254 of the Royal Canadian Legion.  She is survived by three sons, Allan of Kapuskasing; Harvey of Calgary and Stanley of Eau Claire.  Also surviving are four daughters, Mrs. Eric Hustins (Joan) of Colorado, U.S.A.; Mrs. Carl Stewart (Barbara) of Eau Claire; Mrs. Joseph Simler (Linda) of Toronto and Mrs. James Kelly (Velma) of Toronto.  Mrs. Barrer had 19 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Georgine Alma Dora Lajambe:  North Bay Nugget (North Bay, ONT), Monday, 2 December 2013:  (photo) Robitaille, Dora Marie - Passed away peacefully with her family by her side at the Algonquin Nursing Home on Saturday, November 30, 2013, she was 87 years old.  Beloved wife of the late Edmond Robitaille who passed away in 1979.  Cherished mother of Armand Robitaille of Mattawa, Eileen Ranger (Fern predeceased) of North Bay, Jerry Robitaille of North Bay, Marilyn Francoeur (Mark) of Pembroke, Jeanne Robitaille (Patrick) of North Bay, Alcin Robitaille (Cathy) of Chalk River, Dan Robitaille (Jane) of Mattawa and Marcel Robitaille of North Bay.  Leaving behind to mourn her passing are many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.  Dora is predeceased by all of her brothers, sisters and one grandson.  Family will receive friends at the Martyn & Sloan 'Mattawa Chapel' on Tuesday, December 3rd, 2013, from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m.  Funeral service will be held at St. Anne's Church on Wednesday, December 4th, 2013 at 11:00 a.m.  Burial will take place at St. Anne's Cemetery in the spring 2014.  If desired, donations to the Heart & Stroke Foundation would be gratefully acknowledged as expressions of sympathy.

Anne's Church.  Interment to take place in the parish cemetery.
