Obituary: Floyd Anthony Pitre, 90, passed away on Tuesday, September 26, 2017 at 3:55PM. He was a native and resident of Houma, LA. Visitation will be held on Friday, September 29, 2017 at St. Bernadette Catholic Church in Houma, LA from 9:00AM until service time. A Mass of Christian Burial will begin Friday, September 29, 2017 at 11:00AM. Burial will follow Mass in St. Francis de Sales Cemetery #2. Floyd is survived by his loving wife of seventy two years, Carmel Bergeron Pitre; his sons, Richard “Dickie” Pitre and wife Janie and Glynn Pitre; daughter, Barbara Pitre Gauthier and husband Martin Gauthier; grandchildren, Anne Villa, Stephanie Mott, Angela Lucas, Margaret Jarrett, Michael Liner, Gregory Liner, Paula Coussou, Jay Whitaker, and Brian Whitaker; seventeen great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. Floyd is preceded in death by his parents, James Pitre and Josephine Leonard Pitre; brothers, Roy Pitre, Ray Pitre, and James Pitre; and sisters, Geraldine Ledet and Mildred Marie. Floyd is a Veteran of the United States Navy, serving in the Armed Forces during World War II. He was an avid fisherman and enjoyed working in his vegetable garden. Carmel was a longtime resident of Houma, LA. Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the visitation at St. Bernadette Catholic Church on Friday, September 25, 2020 beginning at 10:00 a.m. until the Mass of Christian burial at 11:00 a.m. Burial will follow in St. Francis Cemetery No. 2. Carmel is survived by her sons, Richard “Dickie” Pitre and wife Janie and Glynn Pitre; daughter, Barbara Pitre Gauthier and husband Martin Gauthier; grandchildren, Anne Villa, Stephanie Tabor, Angela Lucas, Margaret Jarrett, Michael Liner, Gregory Liner, Paula Coussou, Jay Whitaker, and Brian Whitaker; thirteen great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren; sister, Jeanette Falgout; brothers, Robert “Bob” Bergeron and wife June and C. Carmel was a beautiful woman who loved her family dearly. She was very strong in her faith, served and loved her Lord, she would pray daily and recite her rosary. She was incredibly talented and enjoyed, gardening, sewing, cooking, Houston Astros, and Atlanta Braves baseball. Carmel worked for many years as a catalog associate with Sears, Roebuck and Company. She was a longtime parishioner at St. Bernadette Catholic Church. The family would like to extend a sincere thank you to those who cared, loved, and supported her during the past year, April and Sarah of Home Instead. Chauvin Funeral Home is honored to serve the family of Carmel Pitre.

Funeral services were conducted from the Chauvin Funeral home to St. Francis de Sales church at 3:00 p.m. May 3, with interment in St. Francis de Sales cemetery. Survivors are the father, and mother and one sister, Barbara Ann.
