Obituary: Daily World (Opelousas, LA), Sunday, 2 December 1979: Funeral services were held at 3 p.m. Saturday in the St. Landry Catholic Church of Opelousas for Edgar "Mac" Pitre, 69, of Plaisance, who died at 7 a.m. Friday in the Ville Platte General Hospital after a brief illness. Burial in the church cemetery directed by Lafond-Ardoin Funeral Home on N. Main St. of Opelousas. Survivors include his wife, the former Lillian Ledoux of Plaisance; one son, Ronald Pitre of Opelousas; one daughter, Mrs. Delton (Patsy) Doucet of New Orleans; three brothers, Emery Pitre of Opelousas, Gervis and Lawrence Pitre, both of Plaisance; two sisters, Mrs. Edna Lafleur and Mrs. Berby Pitre, both of Ville Platte; five grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

"Taunt Yan" Pitre, 90, who passed away on Sunday, October 14, 2007 at Doctors Hospital in Opelousas. Rite of Committal will follow in the St. Landry Cemetery with Father Paul Bienvenue Celebrant. Mrs. Pitre was known to all as a wonderful person who was dedicated to her faith and enjoyed praying. She was also a homemaker who enjoyed watching Bob Barker and the Price is Right. A loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother, and aunt. Mrs. Pitre is survived by her son, Ronald E. Pitre and wife, Cindy of Opelousas; a daughter, Patsy P. Doucet of Metairie; five grandchildren, Sharon Borne, Susan Conners, Delton J. Doucet, Paula Lirette, Kyle Pitre; eight great-grandchildren, Amanda, Richard, Ashley, Katie, Brandon, Krista, Claire, Austin; one great-great-grandchild, Emily; numerous nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents, Louis and Clementine Johnson Ledoux; her husband, Edgar A. Pitre; granddaughter, Lisa Dawn Pitre; one brother and seven sisters. A Mass of Christian burial will be held on Tuesday, October 27, 2020 at 10:30 a.m. in the Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church. The Reverend Gregory Simien will celebrate the Mass. Rite of Committal will follow at the Bellevue Memorial Park cemetery. Patsy Gail Pitre was born on Saturday, February 17, 1940 in Plaisance, LA to Edgar A. Pitre and the former Lillian Ledoux. She entered peacefully into Heavenly rest on Saturday, October 24, 2020. After moving from her home of forty-five years, she became a resident of Metairie Manor for the past five years. She leaves behind a host of good friends and wonderful memories. She was active in her church and devoted to her family and friends. Patsy also loved cooking, bingo and gardening. She is survived by her son, Del Doucet and his wife Roxanne; daughters, Susan Conners and her husband Richard, Sharon Borne, and Paula Lirette and her husband Warren; sister-in-law, Cindy Pitre; grandchildren, Amanda Sexton, Brandon Hollenbacher, Ashley Acord, Richard Matthew Borne, Katie Doucet, Linzi Conners and Krista Lirette; great-granddaughter, Emily Sexton; nephew, Kyle Pitre and his wife Shonette and their children, Claire and Austin. Park in Opelousas. Ronald, age 71, a resident of Opelousas, entered into
eternal rest on Saturday, September 26, 2020 at Opelousas General Health System.
Ronald was a dedicated parishioner of Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church.
He enjoyed hunting and was a member of the National Rifle Association.
Ronald truly cherished time spent visiting with his family and friends. He
will be greatly missed by his family, friends and all who loved him. He is
survived by his wife of 49 years, Cynthia Fontenot Pitre; son, Kyle
Edgar Pitre and wife, Shonette Miller Pitre; grandchildren who affectionally
knew him as 'Poppie', Claire Lisa Pitre and Austin Kyle Pitre; sister,
Patsy P. Doucet; and a host of nieces and nephews who affectionally knew him
as 'Nonky' ,'Nonk Ron' and 'Uncle Ron'. He is preceded in death by his
daughter, Lisa Dawn Pitre; and his parents, Edgar A. Pitre and Lillian
Ledoux Pitre. Visitation will be held on Monday, September 28, 2020
from 4:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. in the Sibille Funeral Home of Opelousas.
The rosary will be recited on Monday at 7:00 p.m. Visitation will resume
on Tuesday from 8:00 a.m. until 9:30 a.m. The family would like to offer a
special thanks to everyone who offered their support and prayers during this
