Obituary: The DeQuincy News (DeQuincy, LA), Friday, 28 August 1953: Last rites were conducted Sunday for Ernest Pitre, 48, at his home on the Edgewood Land and Logging company ranch in the Perkins community. The Rev. Hulon Myre, pastor of the First United Pentecostal church, and the Reverend D. T. Browning, pastor of the Pine Grove Baptist church of Perkins, officiated. Buriel was in Perkins cemetery here with Snider funeral home in charge. Pallbearers were George T. Locke of Lake Charles, A. A. Hayes, R. L. Cleveland, Charley Royer, Burt Corley and Floyd Kent. Mr. Pitre underwent an operation at a Lake Charles hospital 20 days ago, but failed to regain his health. He died Friday. The deceased, who had been a resident of this area for 24 years, is survived by his wife; one daughter, Billie Joyce, DeQuincy; three brothers, Charles, Frank and Mansel Pitre, of DeQuincy; two sisters, Mrs. John Vige of the Perkins community and Mrs. A. Fontenot of Iowa, (La.).
