Misc.:  New Orleans Item (LA), Monday, 27 February 1939:  [due to hailstorm & windstorm]  The world descended on Mrs. Ervin Pitre and her two daughters this morning.  Or so the mother, a deaf mute, must have thought when bricks came crashing about her head.  First warning was a shower of bricks which landed on the bed where Mrs. Pitre and her 6-year-old daughter, Lottie Ray Pitre, were sleeping.  They were cut severely about the head.  Mrs. Pitre hastened Lottie Ray out of the room, got little Marlene, 3, out of her crib in the corner of the room.  And then the entire roof and a portion of the chimney fell in.  Both bed and crib were smothered in a ton of brick and debris.  The Pitres live at 1306 Camp street.  The father, also a mute, was sleeping upstairs and escaped danger.
