Obituary: Houma Courier (LA), 3 September 2004: Edward "Lu Lu" Joseph Pitre Sr., 91, a native and resident of Houma, died at 11:35 a.m. Sept. 2, 2004. Visitation will be 4 to 10 p.m. today at Chauvin Funeral Home in Houma and 8:30 to 11 a.m. Saturday at St. Gregory Barbarigo Catholic Church. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Saturday at the church, with burial at Terrebonne Memorial Park Cemetery. He is survived by his wife of 70 years, Aurelia Galliano Pitre of Houma; sons, Jean Pitre of Wyoming, Daniel Pitre and Edward Pitre Jr. of Houma, Jerry Pitre of Thibodaux and Ricky Pitre of Chauvin; daughters, Lerna Picou and Judy Darcey of Houma; brothers, Horace Sr. and Alvin Pitre of Houma; 26 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Euzelien and Agnes Trosclair Pitre; sons, Sterling and Larry Pitre; brothers, Lawrence, Clarence, Junius and Andrew Pitre; sisters, Gladys Pitre, Vivian Thibodaux and Florance Robichaux; and grandson, Kerry Pitre. He was a retired laborer with 27 years of service to the Terrebonne Parish government and a parishioner of St. Gregory Barbarigo Catholic Church.
