Obituary:  Daily World (Opelousas, LA), Sunday, 28 February 1971:  Funeral services for Damon A. Pitre, 66, of Opelousas, will be held at 2 p.m. today at St. Landry Catholic Church.  Burial will be in the church cemetery under direction of Lafond and Son Funeral Home.  Pitre died at 7:30 p.m. Friday at his home on the Airport Road.  He had been in ill health for several years but his death was sudden.  He was a retired farmer and a member of the St. Landry Parish Cattlemen's Association.  Survivors are his widow, the former Louday Fontenot of Opelousas; two sons, Nolton and Carroll Pitre, both of Opelousas; four daughters, Mrs. Anthony Gallion of New Kennington, Pa., Mrs. Curley Richard of Franklin, Mrs. Felix Kerry of Opelousas and Mrs. Ashton Bellard of Eunice; six brothers, Edgar, Lawrence, Ryan, Raoul and Gervais Pitre, all of Plaisance, and Emery Pitre of Opelousas; two sisters, Mrs. Leonce Lafleur and Mrs. Edna Pitre, both of Ville Platte; and 15 grandchildren.

Pitre, 74, of Opelousas, the former Mary Louday Fontenot, who died at 5:30 p.m. Sunday in the Opelousas Health Care Center.  Lafond-Ardoin Funeral Home of Opelousas is in charge of arrangements with burial in the St. Landry Cemetery.  Survivors include two sons, Carol Pitre and Nolton Pitre, both of Opelousas; four daughters, Mrs. Una Mae Bellard of Eunice, Mrs. E.J. (Marie) Leonard of Franklin, Mrs. Irene Galyean of Opelousas and Mrs. Felix (Bertha) Kerry; two brothers, Willard and Huel Fontenot, both of Opelousas; 15 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Main St. of Opelousas was in charge of arrangements with burial in the Bellevue Memorial Park Cemetery.  Survivors include two brothers, Carol Pitre and Nolton Pitre, both of Opelousas; three sisters, Mrs. Felix (Bertha) Karry of Opelousas, Mrs. Eula Mae Bellard of Eunice and Mrs. E.J. Marie Levia Pitre:  Daily World (Opelousas, LA), Friday, 21 November 2008:  Opelousas - Funeral services for Mrs. Marie Pitre Leonard, will be held Saturday, November 22, 2008, at 10:30 a.m., in Lafond Ardoin Funeral Chapel in Opelousas, with the interment in Franklin Garden Mausoleum in Franklin, La.  The Rev. Jerry Mesley will conduct the services.  Mrs. Leonard, 81, a resident of Opelousas, passed away Thursday, November 20, 2008, at 8 a.m., in Prompt Succor Nursing Home in Opelousas.  She was an L.P.N.  Ms. Marie is survived by her son, Paul Wayn Richard; her sisters, Bertha Kerry, of Opelousas, Eula Mae Davis and her husband, Robert Davis, of Winnfield, and Seola H. Pitre, sister-in-law, of Opelousas, numerous nephews and nieces.  She is also survived by three grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by her first husband, Curley Richard, second husband E. J. Leonard, brothers; Carol Pitre and Nolton Pitre Sr.; Sister; Irene Pitre Gallien, Parents; Damon Pitre and Mary Louday Fontenot Pitre.  Visitation will be Friday at Lafond Funeral Home from 4 p.m. until 9 p.m. and will continue Saturday from 8 a.m. until the time of service.  A Rosary will be recited Friday at 7 p.m.  Lafond Ardoin Funeral Home in Opelousas is in charge of the arrangements.

 

Bertha Lee Pitre:  Daily World (Opelousas, LA), Monday, 20 March 2017:  (photo) Opelousas - Funeral services will be held Tuesday, March 21, 2017 at an 11:00 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial in Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church in Opelousas for Bertha Lee Kerry, age 88, the former Bertha Pitre, who passed away Saturday, March 18, 2017 at Opelousas General Health System in Opelousas.  Interment will be in Bellevue Memorial Park in Opelousas.  The Rev. Gregory Simien, pastor of Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church, will officiate at the services.  Mrs. Kerry was a native and resident of Opelousas.  She was formerly employed with Abdalla's of Opelousas.  Survivors include two sons, Dennis Kerry and Neil Kerry; one daughter, Linda Marie Kerry, all of Opelousas; two grandchildren, Nickki Touchet and Lacey Kerry; and six great-grandchildren, Brooke Thibodeaux, Tory Quebedeaux, Trey Quebedeaux, Brendon Vidrine, Mya Doucet and Jase Doucet.  She was preceded in death by her parents, Damon Pitre and the former Mary Louday; her husband, Felix Kerry, Jr.; two brothers, Nolton Pitre and Carroll Pitre; and three sisters, Irene Gallian, Marie Leonard and Eula Mae Davis.  A rosary will be prayed at 7:00 p.m. Monday in the funeral home.  The family requests that visiting hours be observed from 11:00 a.m. until 10:00 p.m. Monday and will continue from 8:00 a.m. until service time on Tuesday.  Melancon Funeral Home of Opelousas is in charge of arrangements.

Eugene Tremie will conduct the services.  Mr. Pitre, a resident of Opelousas, died Sunday, November 14, 1999, in Opelousas.  He owned and operated Cajun Fence Co.  Survivors include: five sons, Nolton "T-Boy" Pitre Jr. and wife Eula Mae, Anthony "Rocky" Pitre and wife Barbara and Randy "Blue" Pitre and wife Stephanie, all of Opelousas, Kenneth Ray Pitre and wife Rita of Leonville and Donald Wayne Pitre and wife B.J. of Bunkie; two daughters, Brenda "Sis" Fontenot and husband Harold of Ville Platte and Cecile "Te-Te" Stelly and husband Joseph of Leonville; a brother, Carol Pitre of Opelousas; three sisters, Mrs. Eula Mae Davis of Winnfield, Mrs. Felix (Bertha) Kerry and Mrs. Marie Leonard, both of Opelousas; 12 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.  Mr. Pitre was preceded in death by his wife, Marie "Bobbie" Pitre; his parents, Damon and Louday Pitre; and a sister, Irene Gallien.  Visiting hours will be observed from 5 p.m. today until time of services.  A rosary will be recited at 6:30 p.m.  Lafond-Ardoin Funeral Home on the Old Sunset Hwy in Opelousas is in charge of arrangements.

 

Eula May Pitre:  Opelousas - A Mass of Christian Burial will be held for Eula Mae Pitre Davis at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, June 13, 2014, in the St. Landry Catholic Church in Opelousas, LA.  Reverend Austin Leger will Celebrate the Mass.  Rite of Committal will be held at Bellevue Memorial Park Cemetery.  Mrs. Davis, age 82, a resident of Eunice, LA, died on Tuesday, June 10, 2014, at Lane Regional Medical Center in Zachary, LA.  Throughout her life, Eula combined her love of people and joy of creating and sharing various crafts and food items to serve others.  She volunteered as a "pink lady" for over 20 years at Natchitoches Regional Medical Center.  She was a faithful Catholic who prayed for her family and friends daily.  She will be greatly missed by her family, friends, and all who knew and loved her.  Survivors are her sons, Larry Bellard and wife, Carolyn, of Zachary, LA; Patrick Bellard and wife, Gilda, of Eunice, LA; her daughter, Diane Singleton and husband, Joe, of Eunice, LA; her sister, Bertha Kerry of Opelousas, LA.  She is also survived by four grandchildren, Jeffery Bellard and wife, Tara; Nicole Bellard-Smith; Jami Hooge and husband, Davey; Cassidy Bellard; and five great-grandchildren, Addi Smith, Tegan Bellard, Ella Hooge, Jase Bellard and Alden Hooge.  She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Davis; her parents, Damon and Louday Fontenot Pitre; her brothers, Nolton Pitre, Sr. and Carol Pitre; and her sisters, Irene Galleon and Marie Leonard.  Visitation will be held at the LaFond-Ardoin Funeral Home of Opelousas on Thursday, June 12, 2014, from 10:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. and will reopen on Friday at 8:00 a.m. until service time.  A rosary will be prayed at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.  Pallbearers will be Pat Bellard, Larry Bellard, Nolton Pitre, Jr., Rocky Pitre, Donald Pitre and Dennis Kerry.  LaFond-Ardoin Funeral Home/Opelousas.

 

Carol Pitre:  Daily World (Opelousas, LA), Thursday, 7 February 2008:  (photo) Opelousas - Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, Feb. 8, 2008, at a Mass of Christian Burial in Melancon Funeral Home Chapel for Carol Pitre, 71, who passed away Tuesday, Feb. 5, 2008, in Opelousas General Hospital in Opelousas.  Interment will be in Bellevue Memorial Park.  The Rev. Albert G. Nunez, pastor of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, will officiate at the services.  Musical selections will be provided by Valerie Andrus.  The songs will be 'Amazing Grace', 'Isaiah 49', 'Just a Closer Walk With Thee', 'Hail Mary Gentle Woman' and 'Wind Beneath My Wings'.  Mr. Pitre was a native and lifelong resident of Opelousas.  He graduated from Washington High School in 1956 and was drafted in 1959, where he served for two years in the U.S. Army and married on April 28, 1962.  Mr. Pitre retired in 1990 as Assistant Fire Chief for St. Landry Parish Fire District 3, with 29 years of service and was also employed with the St. Landry School Board for almost 30 years.  Mr. Pitre was a parishioner of St. Landry Catholic Church.  Survivors include his wife of 45 years, the former Seola Hebert Pitre, of Opelousas; one daughter, Candice Pitre Elkins and her husband, David, of Opelousas; one grandchild, Madeline Elizabeth Moreau; four step-grandchildren, Derrick Elkins, Blake Elkins, Corey Elkins, and Kevin Elkins; three sisters, Eula Mae Davis and her husband, Robert, of Winnfield, Bertha Kerry, of Opelousas, and Marie Leonard, of Opelousas; and numerous nieces, nephews, and the Fire Fighters at St. Landry Fire District 3, who he also considered his family.  He was preceded in death by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Damon Pitre, mother the former Mary Louday Fontenot, both natives of Opelousas; one brother, Nolton Pitre Sr.; and one sister, Irene Pitre Gallien.  A rosary will be prayed at 7 p.m. Thursday in the funeral home.  The family requests that visiting hours be observed from 3 p.m. until 10 p.m. Thursday and from 9 a.m. until service time Friday.  Pallbearers will be Nolton Pitre Jr., Kenneth Pitre, Randy Pitre, Anthony Pitre, Donald Pitre and Dennis Kerry.  Melancon Funeral Home of Opelousas is in charge of arrangements.
