Obituary:  North Bay Nugget (North Bay, ONT), Friday, 19 April 1963:  A resident of North Bay since 1958, Dominateur Pitre, 890 Fraser St., died Thursday in hospital following a brief illness.  He was 90 years of age.  Friends may pay their respects at the Guenette Funeral Home, Timmins.  Requiem High Mass will be offered Saturday morning at St. Anthony's Cathedral, and interment will take place at Timmins.  Born at Clarence Creek, Ont., May 4, 1873, Mr. Pitre was the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Adolphe Pitre.  He was married at Clarence Creek in 1895 to the former Rose Delima Clairmont.  He was predeceased by his wife.  Mr. Pitre had been a resident of Timmins since 1920.  He came to North Bay in June, 1958.  He is survived by four daughters: Mrs. Alberta Grandbois, and Mrs. V. P. Hughes (Fernande), North Bay; Mrs. Jim Torbett (Beatrice), California, and Mrs. E. J. Grandbois (Aline), Rimouski, Que.  Also surviving are a brother, Ernest Pitre, Trois Rivieres, and a sister, Mrs. A. Fairfield (Claudia), Senneterre, Que.

Obituaries for the children:

Marie Berthand 'Alberta' Pitre North Bay Nugget (North Bay, ONT), Wednesday, 23 August 1967:  A former resident of North Bay, Mrs. Alexandre Grandbois of 105 Cox Cr., Port Arthur, died Tuesday in hospital at Sturgeon Falls following a short illness.  She was 69.  Friends and relatives may pay their respects at the Laporte Funeral Home in Timmins, where Requiem High Mass will be offered at St. Anthony Church Friday at 10 a.m.  Interment will be at Timmins.  Alberta (Bertha) Grandbois was born Feb. 18, 1898, at Rockland, daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Pitre Dominateur.  She was educated at Rockland, where her marriage to Alexandre Grandbois took place Aug. 20, 1917.  Mrs. Grandbois moved to Timmins in 1918 and lived there until 1958, when she moved to North Bay.  She spent a year at Mattawa before moving to Port Arthur, where she attended St. Margaret Church.  Predeceased by her husband Aug. 13, 1950, she is survived by four sons, Fernand of Cochrane, Gaston of Ottawa, Roger of Sturgeon Falls and Marcel of Val d'Or, Que.; a daughter, Mrs. Lyle Manary (Vivianne) of Port Arthur and two sisters, Mrs. Edgar Grandbois of Rimouski, Que., and Mrs. Vince Hughes, North Bay.

 

Marie Beatrice Pitre:  Santa Barbara News Press (Santa Barbara, CA), Tuesday, 7 July 1964:  Mrs. Beatrice Torbett, 64, died yesterday in her home at 7368 Hollister Ave.  Born Dec. 13, 1899, in Rockland, Ont., Canada, she came to California in 1961 with her husband, James E. Torbett.  Previously she had lived for 16 years in Scottsdale, Ariz.  She was past president of the Catholic Women's Organization in both Globe and Scottsdale, Ariz.  She was a graduate of the University of Quebec, where she studied languages.  Surviving Mrs. Torbett are her husband, and three daughters, Mrs. Robert Mosley and Mrs. Clyde E. Ballard of Phoenix, Ariz., and Mrs. Elmer White of Port Hueneme.  She is also survived by three sisters, Mrs. V. C. Hughes, Mrs. Bertha Grandbois and Mrs. Aline Grandbois, all of Canada.  Rosary will be recited at 8 p.m. Thursday in the Welch-Ryce Chapel.  Requiem high Mass will be celebrated Friday at 9 a.m. in St. Raphael's Church in Goleta.  Mrs. Torbett will be buried in St. Francis Cemetery in Phoenix.

Marie Cecile Fernande Pitre:  North Bay Nugget (North Bay, ONT), Tuesday, 19 November 1991:  Funeral mass for Fernande Hughes was celebrated by Reverend Lionel Desgroseillers at St. Vincent de Paul Church, Monday, November 18, 1991 at 11 a.m.  Interment took place at St. Mary's Cemetery.  Mrs. Hughes was a teacher with the R.C.S.S. Board and taught both in Widdifield and North Bay for 25 years.  She taught at St. Paul and St. Joseph schools.  Mrs. Fernande Hughes passed away at Leisure World Nursing Home, Friday, November 15, 1991.  Fernande Pitre, beloved wife of the late Vincent Hughes, in her 80th year.  Dear mother of Mrs. Roch LeBrun (Francine) of North Bay.  Lovingly remembered by three grandchildren, Roxanne Lafrance (husband Martin) of Ottawa, Denyse of North Bay and Pierre LeBrun, also of Ottawa.  Dearly remembered by a sister-in-law, Mrs. Anastasia Hughes of Barrie, Ontario.  Predeceased by her parents Dominateur and Rose de Lima Pitre.  Active pallbearers for Mrs. Hughes were Pierre and Denyse LeBrun, Roxanne LeBrun-Lafrance, Martin Lafrance, Denis and Marcel Grandbois.  Funeral services were under the direction of the McGuinty Funeral Home.
