Obituary: Syracuse Herald Journal, Tuesday, 27 April 1948 - Watertown - The body of Corp. Donald A. Lashomb, 27, formerly of 877 Mill st., who was killed in action on Jan. 15, 1945, in France, will arrive here tomorrow afternoon on the 4:50 train from the U.S. Army's general distribution center in Schenectady. Funeral services will be held from the Northern & Fox funeral home on Friday at 2 P.M. and at 2:30 from the St. Paul's Episcopal Church. The Rev. John R. Bill, rector, will officiate. Burial will take place at North Watertown Cemetery. Full military honors will be accorded. The casket will be flag draped. A firing squad and bugler will fire the customary farewell salute and sound taps at the grave. Corp. Lashomb, a tank gunner in the 14th Armored Division, was killed instantly in France when his command tank slipped over the shoulder of the road into a ditch and struck some land mines during the Battle of Hatten. He was a native of this city.

22 Feb 2009 Watertown, NY - There will be no funeral or calling hours for
Mary C. Lashomb, 94, formerly of 10414 Duck Harbor Road. Mrs. Lashomb
died Sunday February 22, 2009 at Samaritan Keep Home, Watertown, where she had
been a resident since Jan. 12. A spring graveside service with military
honors will be in North Watertown Cemetery. Arrangements are with Hart &
Bruce Funeral Home, Watertown. Mrs. Lashomb was a nurse at Memorial
Hospital, Easton, Md. She returned to Watertown in 1953 and worked at the
former Mercy Hospital for nine months. Born Feb. 4, 1915, in Edinburgh,
Scotland, daughter of Alexander and Mary McCraw Robertson, she moved to
the U.S. in 1925, attended local schools and graduated from Watertown High
School. She married Donald A. Lashomb on Sept. 22, 1941, at St.
Paul's Episcopal Church, Watertown. She became a registered nurse after
receiving news of her husband's death in 1945, killed in action while he was
serving in the Army in France during World War II. On March 14, 1954, she
entered the Army Nurses Corps and served in Okinawa, Japan, and Germany.
She was honorably discharged in 1974 as a lieutenant colonel and received the
National Defense Service Medal. Mrs. Lashomb was a member of St. Paul's
Episcopal Church, Watertown. She enjoyed her home on Duck Harbor, reading,
cooking and the four years she was a resident at Angel's Inn, Watertown.
Among her survivors are her caregivers, a niece and her husband, Kristine M.
and James A. Wanamaker, Watertown, and several other nieces, nephews,
great-nieces, great-nephews, great-great-nieces and great-great-nephews.
Five sisters, Alexandra "Alexa" Trainham, Isabella Robertson, Agnes "Nancy"
Thompson, Margaret "Peggy" Kelly and Pauline Robertson, and two brothers,
James and Alexander Robertson, died before her. Donations may be made
to the Alzheimer's Association of Central New York-Jefferson County, Watertown,
N.Y.
