Obituary: The Bangor Daily News (Bangor, ME), Saturday, 30 June 2007: (photo) Clarence L. 'Pete' Petrie - Old Town and Milford - Clarence L. 'Pete' Petrie, 91, passed away June 29, 2007, at Orono Commons Nursing Home. He was born Dec. 11, 1915, in Ashland, the son of William and Eva (Cote) Petrie. Pete worked for many years as a shoe cutter at the shoe shop in Old Town and then he worked for Lily Tulip. During his retirement, he painted many houses in the area. He loved music. Pete played in the band Green Valley Boys and in the Community Band. His expertise was the banjo, fiddle and bass, and he adopted the nickname 'Picky' from his talents. Pete just generally loved being around people. He was fun loving and like to keep busy. Pete also enjoyed gardening. He was predeceased by his wife, Glenys (Cates) Petrie; parents; and 17 siblings. Pete is survived by his daughter, Susan Danforth and her husband, Fred, of Milford; son, Wayne Petrie and his wife, Meredith, of Connecticut; grandchildren, Peter Danforth and his wife, Marie, Jennifer Chubbuck and her husband, Todd, Andrew Petrie and his wife, Katie Kuchman, and Theodore Petrie and his wife, Amy Keach; great-grandchildren, Julia, Ryan, and Ian; sisters, Theresa Olive, Donna and Yvette; many nieces and nephews. Friends may call 6-9 p.m. Monday, July 2, at Birmingham Funeral Home, 438 Main St., Old Town, where a funeral service will be held 10 a.m. Tuesday, July 3. Interment will be after at Lawndale Cemetery, Old Town. Family and friends are invited to continued fellowship and refreshments after services at Holy Family Parish Hall, Old Town. Pete's family extends their gratitude to the staff of Orono Commons for the excellent care and heartfelt compassion they provided. Memorial donations may be made to the Ronald McDonald House.

Obituary: The Bangor Daily News (Bangor, ME), Monday, 8 December 1986: Old Town - Glenys D. Petrie, 75, died Dec. 6, 1986 at a Bangor hospital. She was born in Old Town, Jan. 14, 1911, the daughter of Percy and Bertha (Fredericks) Cates. She was employed for several years by the Ounegan Woolen Mill and the Penobscot Shoe Co., both of Old Town. She is survived by her husband, Clarence Petrie of Old Town, one daughter and her husband, Susan and Fred Danforth of Old Town, one son and his wife, Wayne and Meredith Petrie of Gales Ferry, Conn.; three sisters, Doris LaPlante of Old Town, Freda Deshane of Milford and Beverly Cates of Old Town; two brothers, Clair Cates of Pushaw and Guy Cates of Old Town; four grandchildren, Andrew and Theodore Petrie, Peter and Jennifer Danforth, several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her brother, Donald Cates. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Kiley-Birmingham Funeral Home, Old Town, with the Rev. Dr. George Curtis officiating. Interment will be in Lawndale Cemetery, Old Town. Friends may call at the funeral home 7-9 p.m. Tuesday. Donations in her memory may be made to the American Cancer Society, Brunswick.
