Obituary: Daily World (Opelousas, LA), Sunday, 17 May 1992: Ville Platte - Funeral services for Mr. Cleveland J. Pitre, 80, will be held at 10 a.m. Monday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church here with burial following at St. Bridget Cemetery in Lawtell. Pitre, a resident of Ville Platte, died at 1:20 p.m. Saturday at Savoy Medical Center in Mamou. He is a retired carpenter. A rosary will be recited at 6:30 p.m. today. Visitation will be held from 10-10 today and from 10 a.m. until the time of services on Monday. Survivors include: his wife, Mrs. Clany Fontenot Pitre, of Ville Platte; a son, Arthur Pitre, of Ville Platte; two sisters, Mrs. Dessie Breland, of Whiteville, and Mrs. Ena Latoilais, of Lawtell; seven grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren. Ardoin Funeral Home of Ville Platte is in charge of arrangements.

Obituary: Ville Platte Gazette (Ville Platte, LA), Thursday, 2 Jan 1997: Clamy Pitre, March 30, 1918 - Dec. 28, 1996 - Clamy Pitre, the former Clamy Fontenot, 78, a resident of Ville Platte, died Saturday, Dec. 28, 1996 at Savoy Medical Center, after a long illness. Survivors include two children, Dessie Breland of Whiteville and Arthur Pitre of Ville Platte; seven grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren. Pitre was preceded in death by her husband, Cleveland Pitre. Pitre donated her body to science.

Juanita S. Pitre: Friday, 7 March 1947: Lawtell Child's Death Is Termed Accidental - A coroner's jury handed in a verdict of 'accidental' in an inquest upon the death last Thursday of six-year-old Lawtell child who was instantly killed when she was struck by an automobile driven by Eugene Padgett, salesman, of Opelousas. The child was Juanita Pitre, daughter of Cleveland Pitre, a carpenter, and the family lives in Lawtell. The child was standing, holding hands with a nine-year-old sister, Dessie Pearl, waiting for cars to pass so they could cross the road and walk to school. The sister said they were standing near the pavement. The coroners verdict said the child died 'accidentally from fracture of cervical vertebra...fracture of left leg and thigh after being struck by a car driven by Eugene Padgett.'
