Obituary:  Daily World (Opelousas), Thursday, 28 January 1982:  Washington - Funeral services for Mr. Henry C. Pitre, 81, will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday in Immaculate Conception Catholic Church here with burial in Cedar Hill Cemetery.  Mr. Pitre, a resident of Grand Prairie, died at 5:10 p.m. Wednesday at his residence.  Survivors include his wife, the former Lena Joubert of Grand Prairie; one son, Millard Pitre of Grand Prairie; three daughters, Mrs. Vernal (Gladys) Fontenot of Grand Prairie, Mrs. Necaisse (Anita) Marks of Palmetto and Mrs. Lenola P. Chelette of Washington; one brother, Emile Pitre of Washington; two sisters, Mrs. Eddie Vidrine and Mrs. Elizabeth Sebastian, both of Opelousas; 16 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.  A rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. today in the Lafond-Ardoin Funeral Home on the old Sunset Highway in Opelousas.  The funeral home will close at 10 p.m. and reopen at 8 a.m. Friday.

Obituary:  Daily World (Opelousas), Sunday, 4 September 2005:  (photo included) Washington - Funeral services for Mrs. Lena Pitre will be held Monday, Sept. 5, 2005, at 10:30 a.m. in Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Washington, with burial at Cedar Hill Cemetery.  The Rev. Albert Nunez will conduct the services.  Mrs. Joubert, 97, died Friday at Opelousas General Health System.  She and her husband took care of their farm and her philosophy was that love is the greatest of all.  She is survived by one son, Millard C. "T-Man" Pitre and his wife, Gloria, of Grand Prairie, two daughters, Mrs. Anita Marks and her husband, Necaisse Marks Jr., of Ville Platte and Mrs. Lenola Chelette, of Washington La.  She is also survived by 16 grandchildren, 34 great-grandchildren and 10 great-great-grandchildren.  Pallbearers will be her son, son-in-law and all her grandsons.  She was preceded in death by her husband, Henry Pitre; her parents, Eraste and Bertha Fontenot Joubert; a daughter, Mrs. Gladys Fontenot; and brothers, Robert Joubert, Roosevelt Joubert, Edward Joubert and Willie Joubert.  Visitation will be observed from 3 p.m. until 10 p.m. today and will continue from 8 a.m. Monday until time of service.  A rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. today.  Lafond Ardoin Funeral Home of Opelousas is in charge of the arrangements.

Mary Gladys Pitre:  Daily World (Opelousas, LA), Thursday, 28 June 1984:  Grand Prairie - Funeral services for Gladys Pitre Fontenot, 57, will be held at 2 p.m. Friday in St. Peter's Roman Catholic Church here with burial in Cedar Hill Cemetery of Washington.  Mrs. Fontenot, a resident of Grand Prairie, died at 1 p.m. Wednesday in Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital of Lafayette following a long illness.  Survivors include her mother, Mrs. Henry C. Pitre of Grand Prairie; three sons, Kenneth Fontenot of Carencro, Larry Fontenot of Washington and Ernest Fontenot of Grand Prairie; a daughter, Lucille Hollier of Opelousas; a brother, Millard Pitre of Grand Prairie; two sisters, Anita Marks of Palmetto and Lenola Chelette of Washington and eight grandchildren.  She was a member of the American Legion Post 45 Auxiliary, Plaisance Rosary Group and the National Association of Retired Federal Employees.  Visiting hours will be held until 10 p.m. today with a rosary recitation at 8 p.m. in the Lafond-Ardoin Funeral Home on the old Sunset Road in Opelousas, which is in charge of arrangements.  The funeral home will reopen at 7 a.m. Friday.

Anita Pitre:  Daily World (Opelousas, LA), Wednesday, 30 January 2013:  (photo) Anita Pitre Marks, May 23, 1928 - January 28, 2013 - Ville Platte - Funeral services for Mrs. Anita Pitre Marks, 84, will be held 12PM Tuesday January 29, 2013 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with burial to follow in the Cedar Hill Cemetery in Washington.  Father Garrett McIntyre will officiate.  Mrs. Marks, a resident of Ville Platte, passed away Monday January 28, 2013 at Mercy Regional Medical Center.  A parishioner at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, she served as eucharistic minister, and previously the altar society in Palmetto.  A loving wife, mother, and grandmother she will be missed by her husband of 64 years Necaisse Marks Jr. of Ville Platte; sons Richard Michael Marks of Ville Platte, Ronnie Marks and wife Lynn S. Mason of Baton Rouge; daughter Joanne Marks Vincent and husband Glenn of Orange Beach, AL; brother Millard Pitre of Washington; sister Lenola Chelette of Washington; 9 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren; preceded in death by her parents Henry and Lena Joubert Pitre; sister Gladys Fontenot.  Visitation will be held Monday January 28, 2013 from 4PM-9PM with a rosary being recited at 6:30PM, and will resume again Tuesday January 29, 2013 at 8AM until the time of services.

Millard C. Pitre:  Daily World (Opelousas, LA), Friday, 20 January 2017:  (photo) Opelousas - Funeral services for Millard Pitre, age 83, will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, January 20, 2017, in the Sibille Funeral Home Chapel.  Fr. Austin Leger will officiate the services.  Millard was a resident of Grand Prairie.  He died on Thursday, January 19, 2017, at his residence surrounded by his family.  Millard enjoyed the outdoors, sitting under his trees swinging, playing with his grandchildren, and loved his family dearly.  Survivors include his loving wife, Gloria Pitre of Grand Prairie, sons, Todd Pitre and Doyle Pitre and his wife, Cindy, daughter, Darlene Fontenot and her husband, Teddy all of Grand Prairie, sister Lenola Chelette of Washington, six grandchildren, nine great grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild.  He was preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Lena Joubert Pitre, sister Gladys Fontenot and sister, Annette Marks.  Visitation will be held on Friday, January 20, 2017, from 9:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. in the Sibille Funeral Home Chapel.  Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Sibille Funeral Home of Opelousas.
