Obituary:  Neligh News and Leader, 14 January 1982:  Funeral services were held for Charles E. Peets of Oakdale on Wednesday, January 13 at the Marshall-Harlan Funeral Home in Tilden with Rev. Stan LARUE of Tilden officiating.  Interment was in the Oakdale Cemetery.  Joe Petersen was soloist at the rites.  Charles E. Peets, the son of George Edward and Catherine (Wetzel) Peets was born at Oakdale on April 18, 1895.  He graduated from the Oakdale high school in 1914 and was married to Dorothea M. Martens on March 26, 1919.  The couple farmed most of their married life on a farm one mile east of Oakdale.  After Mrs. Peets died in March of 1972, Peets moved to Tilden.  He later became a resident of Heritage Village in Tilden on October 27, 1979.  He was a member of the I.O.O.F. Lodge of Oakdale.  Peets died at the Tilden Community Hospital on January 10, 1982 at the age of 86 years.  Survivors include: three daughters, Mrs. Elmer (Irene) Pearson of South Sioux City, Mrs. Herman (Margaret) Weeder of Columbus, and Mrs. Robert (Joyce) Tierney of Denver, eight grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.  He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife and one sister.

Obituary:  Neligh News and Leader, 9 March 1972:  Funeral services were held Saturday, March 4 at 2 p.m. at the Oakdale Methodist Church for Mrs. Charles Peets who died Wednesday, March 1, 1972 at the Tilden Community Hospital.  The Rev. Connie J. Buehler officiated at the service and burial was in the Oakdale Cemetery.  Pallbearers were William O. Evans, Gwyn Wingate, Merle Brink, Ralph Kinnan, Lewis Wagner, and Ralph Edwards.  Dorothea M. Peets was born July 13, 1894 at Pomeroy, Iowa, to Mr. and Mrs. Henry Martens.  The family moved to St. Clair Valley southwest of Tilden when she was six years of age.  She lived there until 1917 when she moved to Tilden.  She married Charles Peets, March 26, 1919 and they farmed east of Oakdale for 52 years.  Surviving are her widower; three daughters, Mrs. Elmer (Irene) Pearson of South Sioux City, Mrs. Herman (Margaret) Weeder Jr. of Columbus and Mrs. Robert (Joyce) Tierney of Denver, Colorado; one sister, Mrs. Homer Wingate of Oakdale; eight grandchildren, and one great grandchild.  She was preceded in death by a sister, five brothers and her parents.
