Peters, Sudbury; 5 grandchildren.  Funeral service in the Walter D. Kelly Funeral Home, 1969 Wyandotte St. East at Devonshire Road, Thursday, July 5, 1962 at 11 a.m.  Rev. W.M. Reeves officiating.  Interment Greenlawn Memorial Cemetery.

- The Windsor Star (ONT), Tuesday, 3 July 1962:  Adolphe Walter Peters, 73, of 3944 Alice St., died Sunday in Grace Hospital after a brief illness.  Mr. Peters was born in Highland Grove, Ont., and lived in Windsor for 43 years.  He was building construction foreman until 1957 when he retired.  He was a member of the 228 Battalion Canadian Expeditionary Force overseas from 1914 to 1918.  Surviving are his widow, Amy Esther; a son, Alan Lewis of Windsor; a brother, George A. Peters of Sudbury; and five grandchildren.  Funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Thursday at the Walter D. Kelly Funeral Home, 1969 Wyandotte St. E., Rev. W.M. Reeves officiating.  Burial will be in Greenlawn Cemetery.

 

MISC:  Adolph's granddaughter Janis has contacted me to say that his middle name was Walker.  His Ontario birth record has Walker, as does his naturalization paperwork.  The obituary notices have Walter.  I've amended his name to Walker.  Thanks, Janis.

Alan Lewis Peters:  The Windsor Star (Windsor, ONT), Thursday, 4 November 1999:  Peters, Alan Lewis, of Windsor, Ontario.  Peacefully at home in Burlington, Ontario on Monday November 1, 1999 in his 73rd year.  Loving husband of Beatrice Peters (nee Perkins); devoted father of Janis, Jay, Bryan, Mark, Chris, Laurie and Amy and father-in-law of David, Diane, Lesley, Bernadette, Jodi, Wayne and Bill; enormously proud grandfather of Peter, Lindsay, Amy, Tim, Elizabeth, Kyle, Vanessa, Kate, Emily Meghan, Joshua, Matthew, Justin, Andrew, Rheanne, Daniel and Colin, and predeceased by Caleigh.  Sadly missed by Dorothy Perkins, Marg Ambrose, Ellen Simpson, Kay and Gord Mahony and their families.  Fondly remembered as Coach Peters by players and fans of the Windsor Jets, and Burlington minor football and baseball teams.  Al was a mentor and friend to his colleagues at Ford Motor Company for over 40 years.  Visitation at Smith's Funeral Home, Burlington on Thursday November 4, 1999 from 3-5 & 7-9 p.m.  Funeral Service will be held at St. Elizabeth's Anglican Church, Burlington on Friday November 5, 1999 at 11 a.m.  Private interment.  In lieu of flowers, donations to the Children's Hospital of Eastern Ontario, Ottawa, would be sincerely appreciated.
