Marriage Notice:  Charlottetown Guardian (PEI), 28 August 1900:  At Alberton Church on Tuesday the 28th inst. Mr. Abraham Peters of the Singer Mfg. Co. and Miss Rose Peters daughter of Mr. Fabien Peters, Bloomfield were united in marriage by Rev. Father Murphy.  The bride was accompanied by her sister, Miss May Peters, and the bridegroom by Mr. A. Dorien.  A large number of friends witnessed the ceremony and accompanied the bridal party to the home of the bride where they were fittingly entertained.  Mr. and Mrs. Peters leave today for their future home at Rustico.

 

Obituary:  Charlottetown Guardian (PEI), 22 January 1949:  Funeral yesterday - The funeral of Abraham Peters took place yesterday morning from his late residence in the North American Hotel to St. Dunstan's Basilica where Solemn Requiem High Mass was celebrated by Rev. Clarence Peitre, Parish Priest of South Rustico, assisted by Rev. William McCabe as deacon and Rev. Charles Gallant as sub-deacon.  Rev. N.J. Poirier and Rev. Dr. P. McMahon were present in the sanctuary.  The pallbearers in Charlottetown were: B. Roy Holman, Frank Murray, Joseph Hughes, H.L. Sears, Herbert Pletch and Angus Pineau.  Interment took place in St. Augustine's Cemetery, South Rustico where services were conducted by the pastor Rev. Clarence Peitre assisted by Rev. William McCabe.  The pall-bearers in South Rustico were: Cornelius Doucette, Leon Doucette, Albert Gallant, Andrew Gallant, James Doiron and Henry Gallant.

Obituary:  L'Impartial (PEI), Thursday, 9 October 1902:  Died at Bloomfield, 6 October, Mrs. Abraham Pitre, at the age of 26 years.  The lamented deceased had been ill for some time and almost four months ago, was going to Trenton, N. Jersey, in the effort to improve her health.  She came back about three weeks ago, without having received any relief, and on Monday she returned her soul to God, after having endured her sufferings with a Christian resignation and received all the help of our holy mother the Church.

- Condolences on her death:  L'Impartial (PEI), Thursday, 16 October 1902:  Since it pleased the almighty to call to Him Mrs. Abraham Pitre, sister of our secretary-archivist, Mr. Stanislas Pitre.  Resolution as the members of branch 342 express their deep regret for the loss her brother Stanislas Pitre has suffered, his family and his brother-in-law, the husband of the recently deceased and that they offer them their sincere sympathies in their affliction.

MISC:  The Guardian (Charlottetown, PEI), 14 May 1952:  Mr. and Mrs. Jack Wilson and Mrs. Abram Peters of Charlottetown motored to South Rustico and Brackley last week.  Mrs. Peters has just returned from a two month's visit to friends in New York and Saint John, N.B.

 

Obituaries for the children:

Marie Stella Pitre:  The Guardian (Charlottetown, PEI), Saturday, 7 May 1921:  The many friends of Mr. and Mrs. Abraham Pitre, formerly of Moncton, but at present residing at Rustico, will be pained to hear of the death of their eldest daughter, Mary Stella, who passed away April 23rd, after a few days illness.  The deceased was fifteen years of age and was attending Rustico convent.  The bereavement is doubly sad as it is not yet a year since Mr. and Mrs. Pitre were called upon to mourn the loss of their second eldest son who died in the Charlottetown Hospital after an operation for appendicitis.

 

Reginald Antoine Pitre:  The Guardian (Charlottetown, PEI), Monday, 24 May 1920:  In Memoriam - Reggie Pitre - Mr. and Mrs. Abraham Pitre, formerly of Moncton, N.B., now residing at Rustico, P.E.I., will have the sincere sympathy of a wide circle of friends in the loss of their second eldest son, Reginald, aged 11 years, who died in the Charlottetown Hospital on Tuesday, May 18, after a short illness following an operation for appendicitis.  Reggie was a bright and cheerful little fellow, much loved by all who knew him.  The circumstances were unusually sad as his father was absent during his illness and at the time of his death.  His remains were laid to rest in St. Augustine's cemetery, Rustico.  May his soul rest in peace.

 

Elouise Evelyn Pitre:  The Guardian (PEI), Monday, 6 Nov 2006:  Gallant, Louise E. 'Lou' - Peacefully, at the Prince Edward Home, on Saturday, November 4, 2006, of Mrs. Louise E. 'Lou' Gallant (nee Peters), formerly of Mc Gill Avenue, Charlottetown in her 97th year.  Beloved wife of the late Edward Gallant and dear mother of Anne (Dennis) Smith of Lower Sackville, Nova Scotia.  Mrs. Gallant will also be sadly missed, but fondly remembered, by her grandsons, Stephen (Susan) Smith, Peter Smith; her great-grandchildren, Olivia and Caleb, her sisters: Yvonne Wilson, Bernice McGee, numerous nieces and nephews and special friend, Clarisse Gallant of Souris.  Besides her husband, Edward, she was predeceased by her parents, Abraham and Josephine (Martin) Peters; brothers and sisters, Reginald, Stella, Elzear, Arthur, Henry, George, Pauline and Camilla.  Resting at the Charlottetown Funeral Home until 12:45 Monday afternoon, then transferred to the Church of the Most Holy Redeemer for funeral mass at 1 p.m.  Interment to follow in the family plot at the Roman Catholic Cemetery.  If so desired, memorials in Lou's memory can be made to The Upper Room Hospitality Ministry.  Visiting hours at the funeral home on Sunday evening, 7 to 9 p.m., and on day, 11 a.m. until 12:30 p.m.

 

Yvonne Mary Peters:  The Guardian (PEI), Saturday, 28 July 2007:  The death occurred at Park West Lodge, Charlottetown, on Thursday, July 26, 2007, of Mrs. Yvonne Mary Wilson (nee Peters), in her 96th year.  She was predeceased by her husband, Jack Wilson, in 1987.  She is survived by her sister, Bernice McGee, and many nieces and nephews.  She was the daughter of the late Abraham and Josephine (Gallant) Peters.  She was predeceased by brothers, Elzere (1944), Arthur (Millie), George (Bernie), Henry, and Reginald, and sisters, Stella, Pauline (Harry) Forestell, Camilla (Russ) Kelly, and Louise (Ed) Gallant.  Resting at the Hennessey Funeral Home until 9:45 Saturday morning, then transferred to the Church of the Most Holy Redeemer for funeral mass at 10 a.m.  Interment to follow in the family plot at Floral Hills Memorial Gardens, Pleasant Valley.  As an expression of sympathy in Yvonne’s memory, donations to the P.E.I. Lung Association or the Canadian Cancer Society would be appreciated.  Visiting hours were held at the funeral home on Friday evening.

 

Marie Bernice Josephine Pitre:  Hennessey Cutcliffe Charlottetown Funeral Home:  Bernice Marie (nee Peters) McGee, formerly of Parkdale, died peacefully at Andrews of Stratford on Monday, August 13, 2012 in her 99th year.  Wife of the late Ernest McGee.  Bernice is the beloved mother of Phil (Lois), Lois MacMillan, Marilyn (Fred) Toombs, Sylvia (George) Sauve, Charles “Butch” (Arleen), Robert (Shirlee), Donna (Dr. Michael) Daley, David (Dr. Donna Hincher), JoAnn (Jim) McQuaid, and Shawn (Cathy) McGee.  She is also survived by her in-laws Colleen McGee, Melvin McGee and Denise OHanley.  She will be sadly missed by her grandchildren Shawn and Michele McGee, Lisa Clarke, Tamara Miller and Tim Clarke, Rob MacMillan, Michael and Marianne Toombs, Susan and Clive Eastwood, Scott and Christa Harris, Kristyna and Shawn Ethier, Lisa McGee and Casey Worth, Stephen and Hiroko Daly, John and Monica Daly, Trish and Cory Power, Paula McQuaid, Susie McQuaid and Michael Stachniak, Matthew, Emma and Michael McGee; as well as her great-grandchildren Michael McGee, Travis, Kyle and Garrett Miller, Laura and Richard Toombs, Reign and Violette Harris, Samantha Ethier, Mikayla, Hannah and Morgan Daly, Quaid and Reegan Power.  She was predeceased by her son Michael McGee, son-in-law Lewis MacMillan, granddaughter Debbie (MacMillan) Murray, and grandson Robert McGee.  Bernice was the last surviving member of the Abraham and Josephine Peters family.  She was predeceased by her brothers and sisters Elzere, Arthur (Millie), George (Bernie), Henry (Venie), Reginald, Stella, Pauline (Harry), Camilla (Russ), Louise (Edward) and Yvonne (Jack); as well as her brothers and sisters-in-law Millie Kelly, Peggy Kimball, Shirley Chalkley, Harry McGee, Sarah Kelly, Herbie McGee, David McGee and Mary Burns.  Resting at the Hennessey Funeral Home for visiting hours on Thursday from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m.  The funeral will be held on Friday with funeral mass from St. Pius X Church at 10:00 a.m.  Interment in the family plot at The Roman Catholic Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers memorial contributions in Bernice's memory may be made to a charity of your choice.

 

Louis Henri Gabriel Pitre: Misc - Charlottetown Guardian (PEI), Thursday, 27 August 1936:  Mr. Henry Peters, son of Mr. and Mrs. Abraham Peters, of the North American Hotel, has recently taken over the Queen Street Meat Market, formerly conducted by Mr. McDonald.  'Henny' as he is familiarly called is a young man of sterling qualities and splendid ability.  He has spent six years in the employ of Roop's Limited, before starting out for himself.  As a young Charlottetown boy, we bespeak for Mr. Peters a fair share of the public patronage.

 

Elzear Abraham Pitre:  Charlottetown Guardian (Charlottetown, PEI), Saturday, 9 September 1944:  Word has been received of the death in action in France on Aug. 26 of Lance Corp. Elzear Peters, son of Mr. and Mrs. Abraham Peters of Charlottetown.  L.-C. Peters, who was about twenty-four years of age, enlisted at the very outbreak of war in the Signals Corps, and went overseas with his unit in 1941.  He attended Queen Square School as a youth and was highly esteemed by all who knew him.  Shortly after the invasion of Normandy last June, L.-C. Peters' parents received an appreciative letter from Capt. L. K. Gass, of the Regina Rifle Regiment, stating that their son had been responsible for saving his life, and promising to send details at a later date.  Capt. Gass's letter appeared in The Guardian of June 24.  Besides his parents, L.-C. Peters is survived by eight brothers and sisters, namely, Arthur, in Souris, Mrs. Edward Gallant (Louise), City; Mrs. John Wilson (Yvonne) Kingston, Ont., Mrs. Philip McGee (Bernice) City; Henry, now serving in France with the Postal Corps, and George, Camilla, and Pauline, at home.

- The Charlottetown Guardian (Charlottetown, PEI), 18 October 1944:  Listed as killed in action - L. Cpl. Elzear Abraham Peters, whose next of kin is his father, Abraham Peters, 126 Kent Street, Charlottetown.

 

Camilla Peters:  Moase Funeral Home (Summerside, PEI):  Camilla Theresa Kelly, 1921 - 2006.  The death occurred at the Prince County Hospital, Summerside, on Sunday, June 25, 2006, of Camilla Kelly, of Andrews Lodge and formerly of Granville Street, Summerside, aged 84 years.  Born in South Rustico, she was the daughter of the late Abraham and Josephine (Gallant) Peters.  Survived by her children Nancy (Tom) Makepeace, Hay River, Northwest Territories; Steve (Kathy), Brampton, ON; Peter, Kamloops, BC; grandchildren Sarah, Jennifer and Thomas Makepeace; Heather, Peter and Robert Kelly; Michaela Kelly; great-grandchildren Madelynn and Breanna Makepeace; and by sisters Louise Gallant, Yvonne Wilson and Bernice McGee.  Predeceased by her husband Russel Kelly; sisters Stella Peters and Pauline Forrestell and by brothers Arthur, George, Elzear, Henry and Reginald Peters.  Resting at the Moase Funeral Home, Summerside, until Thursday, then to St. Paul's Church, Summerside, for funeral mass at 1:00 p.m.  Interment in St. Paul's Cemetery, Summerside.  Visiting hours Wednesday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m.  Memorial donations to the Multiple Sclerosis Society or the Canadian Cancer Society would be appreciated.

 

Pauline Gloria Peters:  The Guardian (Charlottetown, PEI), Saturday, 30 May 1964:  Mrs. Harry Forestell.  The death occurred at St. Joseph's Hospital, St. John, N.B., on May 13, 1964 of Mrs. Harry Forestell (nee Pauline Peters) daughter of Mrs. A. Peters and the late A. Peters of this city.  Those left to mourn her passing are her husband and six children, her mother, three brothers, Arthur, Souris, P.E.I.; Henry of Southport, and George of Toronto, Ontario; four sisters, Louise, Mrs. A. E. Gallant, Yvonne, Mrs. John Wilson, and Bernice, Mrs. Ernest McGee all of Charlottetown, and Camilla, Mrs. Russell Kelly of Summerside, P.E.I.  Her funeral took place from Fitzpatrick's Funeral Home to St. Pius X Church where Solemn Requiem High Mass was celebrated by Rev. Francis MacDonald, Rev. Bernard Stack as deacon and Rev. Donald Mitchell as sub-deacon.  Interment was in St. Joseph's cemetery at Saint John, N.B.
