MISC: The Ottawa Journal (ONT), Saturday, 26 February 1938: Quick Thinking saves lives of two brothers - Hanmer Reeve's sons badly injured by flywheel in bush camp: Capreol, Ont., Feb. 25 - Removing his shoe-laces and using them to apply tourniquets to the shoulder and wrist of Maurice Lajambe, 17, and Henry Lajambe, 25, sons of Reeve Adrien Lajambe, of Hanmer, Albert Proulx, bush worker, is credited with saving the lives of the two young men today. Maurice Lajambe lost his left arm, when it was cut off at the shoulder by a fly-wheel at a bush camp 4 1/2 miles northwest of here in Wismer Township. His brother, Henry, lost his left hand in the same accident. The two men were attended by Proulx, who stripped off his boots and made tourniquets with the laces. Fifteen minutes later he obtained a team of horses and with O. Brunette, Capreol, drove the injured men here. It took an hour and a half to reach Capreol, where they were attended by Dr. J.E. McLean. Dr. McLean said only the quick work of Proulx saved the lives of the two men, who were weak from loss of blood. They were rushed 15 miles to hospital at Sudbury later.
