Ruth Ella Pitre:  Guidry Funeral Home (Church Point, LA):  Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Thursday, February 7, 2019 at Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Church Point, LA for Ruth P. Babineaux, 76, the former Ruth Ella Pitre.  Mrs. Babineaux, a long-time resident of rural St. Landry Parish near Opelousas, LA, died Tuesday morning, February 5 at her son’s home in Church Point, LA.  Monsignor Emmanuel Awe will conduct the services with entombment following in the Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Mausoleum of Church Point.  Ruth was born in Prairie Rhonde, LA to Arthur and Lorena Dupre Pitre on August 28, 1942.  She married the love of her life, Curby Babineaux, on January 11, 1958 in Prairie Rhonde.  They moved to Opelousas where they had their two children, Shadwick and Kurt.  Ruth was a homemaker most of her life.  There wasn’t a problem in a household she didn’t know how to fix or had some kind of remedy for.  She took joy in caring for others.  She loved her family fiercely and made sure every Sunday they had a homecooked meal.  No matter if you were family or not, everybody around knew “Granny” and that she would make sure you had plenty to eat!  Ruth was a devoted and loving mother and grandmother.  She would probably say her proudest moments were spent being a Granny to her grandchildren.  There wasn’t a time you spoke to her that she didn’t mention one of them.  Ruth was preceded in death by her father Arthur and mother Lorena.  She will be forever missed and survived by her husband Curby Babineaux; sons Shad and his wife Dana and Kurt and his wife Rachael; sister Bernadette Thibodeaux and her husband Yves; grandchildren Brittany, Tyke, Hayden, Maci and Jaelyn; great-grandchildren Oaklee and Avery and countless extended family.  Arrangements are being handled by Guidry Funeral Home
