Obituary:  Houston:  Funeral services for Master Sgt. Alvin Luther Pitre Sr., 80, will be held on Tuesday at 10 a.m. in the St. Cecilia Catholic Church, 11720 Joan of Arc Drive in Houston, Texas, with burial at the Houston National Cemetery.  Mr. Pitre died in Houston, Texas, on Friday, Sept. 3, 1999.  Mr. Pitre was born in Plaisance and was a veteran of WWII (10th Station Hospital) and the Korean War (25th Infantry Division).  During his 24 years of service, he received numerous commendations and medals such as the Combat Medical Badge and the Korean Service Medal with four bronze stars.  Upon retirement from the service, he worked for Cotton Brothers' Bakery in Alexandria for 19 years.  He was preceded in death by his parents, Leon Pitre and Emily Guillory Pitre, his brothers Paul and Leon and his sister Mary.  Survivors include: his loving and devoted wife of 55 years, Emily McAlorum Pitre of Bangor, Northern Ireland; one son, Alvin Pitre Jr. and daughter-in-law, Sue M. Pitre; his granddaughter Sarah E. Pitre; three daughters, Margaret E. Pitre and Cathy Bartolomeo and his son-in-law, Marc Bartolomeo; two sisters-in-law, Ruby Pitre of Opelousas and Joan Pitre of Gretna and a brother-in-law Creighton Francheobois of Hessmer.  Visitation will be held Tuesday from 9 a.m. until the time of services.  Memorial contributions may be sent to the American Cancer Society or Sisters of Charity St. Joseph Hospice of Houston.  Miller Funeral Home of Houston is in charge of the arrangements.

Obituary:  Houston Chronicle (TX), Thursday, 13 January 2005:  Emily McAlorum Pitre died on January 11, 2005 after 82 years of good life.  Emily was born December 1, 1922 in Bangor, Northern Ireland.  During World War II she volunteered and served with the British Women's Auxiliary Territorial Service.  She was married to M/SGT (retired) Alvin L. Pitre Sr. for 55 years whom she met during the war.  She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents David and Ellen McAlorum of Bangor, Northern Ireland and her three brothers and four sisters and her long time friend Kitty Barnes, also of Bangor.  Emily is survived by her daughter Margaret E. Pitre of Houston, her daughter Catherine Bartolomeo and her son-in-law, Marc Bartolomeo of Lake Jackson, her son Al Pitre Jr., and her daughter in law, Sue M. Pitre, of Houston, her only grandchild Sarah E. Pitre, of Austin, and numerous nephews and nieces in Louisiana, Northern Ireland, Great Britain and Australia.  The family wishes to express its gratitude to the Pina family for their long standing, loving friendship with Emily.  Funeral Services will be at St. Bernadette Church in Clear Lake City, Friday, January 14, 2005 at 10:00 A.M.  Interment will be at the Houston National Cemetery with her husband.  Memorial contributions may be sent to St. Bernadette Church, Houston, TX or the American Cancer Society.
