Obituary:  Lafourche Daily Comet (LA), January 2003:  Allen Joseph Pitre, 95, a native and resident of Montegut, died at 12:05 a.m. Friday, Jan. 31, 2003.  Visitation will be from 6 to 9 p.m. Sunday at Montegut Fire Station and from 8:30 a.m. to funeral time Monday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church.  Mass will be at 11 a.m. Monday at the church, with burial in the church cemetery.  He is survived by two daughters, Mazie Freeman and husband, Earl, of Montegut and Delores Waguespack and husband, Dale, of Slidell; one sister, Leola "Nin" David of Metairie; 9 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren.  He was preceded in death by his wife, Iola Blanchard Pitre; his parents, Elie and Julienne Rhodes Pitre; five brothers, Camille, Bruce, Miller, Andrew and Maurice "Charlie" Pitre; and two sisters, Rosemary Michel and Oriana Pitre.

Freeman, 87, a native and resident of Montegut, La. died on Thursday, April 13, 2017 at 9:40 a.m.  Visitation will be held on Monday, April 17, 2017 from 9:00 a.m. until Service time at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Montegut, La.  Funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 a.m. at the church with burial in the church cemetery.  Mazie is survived by her husband of 65 years, Earl Francis Freeman; sons, Laddie Freeman and wife Karol and Todd Freeman; daughters, Larke Cenac and husband Kenneth, Wendy Black and husband Charles, Christy Talbot and husband Toby and Lori Freeman; daughter-in-law, Kari Freeman Trahan; sisters, Delores Pitre Waguespack and husband Dale; fifteen grandchildren, Erica, Michael, Daniel, Matthew, Sarah, Jake, Brandi, Toby, Beau, Billy Caleb, Abbie, Ally, Shain and Tyler and twenty-nine great-grandchildren.  Mazie is preceded in death by Allen and Iola Blanchard Pitre; sons, Donnie Mark Freeman and grandson, Josiah Freeman.  Mazie was a parishioner of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Montegut, La., a member of the Catholic Daughters, Sacred Heart Altar Society, Montegut Homemaker’s Club, Organist at Sacred Heart and surrounding church parishes and a choir member.  Chauvin Funeral Home, Inc., is honored to serve the Freeman family.
