Obituary: Courier & Freeman (Potsdam, NY), Tuesday, 25 April 1978: Potsdam - Funeral services for Albert H. LaShomb, 66, of Madrid Avenue, Potsdam, were held Sunday, April 23, 1978, at Garner Funeral Home, the Rev. Donald Robinson, United Methodist Church of Potsdam, officiating. Burial was in Bayside Cemetery, Potsdam. Mr. LaShomb was pronounced dead at Potsdam Hospital Friday (April 21, 1978). Surviving are his widow, Dorothy; a son, Gary, Potsdam; two daughters, Mrs. Donald (Shirley) Raymo of Potsdam and Mrs. Henry (Barbara) Stone of Norwood; two sisters, Mrs. Daniel (Mae) Cameron, Massena, and Mrs. Harold (Dorothy) Moellerman of Salem, Ore. Mr. LaShomb was bom Jan. 24, 1912, in Massena, son of Mr. and Mrs. Henry LaShomb. He attended Massena Schools and worked as a laborer for Sheehan Bros. Construction and the Alcoa Plant in Massena. He married Dorothy F. Pike on Nov. 12, 1935 in Massena. They made their home in Potsdam for the past 36 years.

Obituary: Ogdensburg Advance (NY), Sunday, 12 December 2004: Potsdam - Funeral services for Dorothy LaShomb, 89, of Potsdam, will be held on Monday at 11 a.m. at the Garner Funeral Home, Potsdam with Rev. Michael Tomford officiating. Burial will follow at the Bayside Cemetery, Potsdam. Calling hours are today from 2 to 4 p.m., 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home. Mrs. LaShomb died on Thursday (Dec. 9, 2004) at her residence while under the care of Hospice. She is survived by two daughters, Shirley and Donald Raymo of Potsdam, and Barbara Stone of Norwood; 14 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; and seven great-great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband, Albert LaShomb, who died in 1978; a son, Gary LaShomb, who died in 2001; brothers, Robert and John Pike; and sisters, Charlotte Fuller and Lorretta Ploof. Mrs. LaShomb was born in Brasher Falls on Nov. 22, 1915, the daughter of Franklin Pike and Lucinda Bell. She attended rural schools in the Brasher area. She was married to Albert LaShomb on Nov. 12, 1934. She worked for Canton-Potsdam Hospital. She then retired from Potsdam State Teachers College with 27 years of service as a custodian. Mrs. LaShomb enjoyed playing cards and bingo. Memorial contributions may be made to the Hospice and Palliative Care of the St. Lawrence Valley.

Michael Thomford officiating. Burial will be in Bayside Cemetery later that week. Mrs. Raymo died Thursday at her home. Calling hours will be from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. Mrs. Raymo worked at Arlington Inn, Homestead Dairies and Aramark at Clarkson University, Potsdam. She retired from Aramark in 2002 after 20 years' service as head cook. Born July 21, 1936, in Potsdam, daughter of Albert and Dorothy Pike LaShomb, she graduated in 1953 from Potsdam Central School. She married Donald K. Raymo Sr. in 1953. Mrs. Raymo enjoyed playing bingo. Surviving besides her husband are a son Donald K. "Pee Wee," Potsdam; a daughter and her husband, Cindy and Terry Smith, Central Square; a sister and her husband, Barbara and Henry Stone, Norwood; three grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. A brother, Gary F. LaShomb, died July 23, 2001. Donations may be made to the American Cancer Society or to Hospice and Palliative Care of St. Lawrence Valley.

Barbara J. Lashomb: Oswego News (NY), Wednesday, 29 December 2021: Mrs. Barbara J. Stone, age 83, of Norwood, NY passed away peacefully on December 28th at the Canton Potsdam Hospital. Friends may call at the Garner Funeral Service on Thursday, December 30th from 4-7 pm. Funeral Services will be held the next day at 11 am at the United Methodist Church in Potsdam, NY with Rev. Cori Loudon celebrant. Burial will follow the service at Bayside Cemetery. Contributions in her memory can be made to the West Potsdam Volunteer Fire Department or to the Potsdam Rescue Squad. Barbara is survived by her husband Henry Stone; daughters Susan (Ronald) Centola and Laura (Michael) Reff; sons Steven (Robin) Stone, William (Paula) Stone, Michael (Belinda) Stone, Timothy Stone and companion Emily Dunn, Richard Stone and companion Sheila Jordan and Henry (Michele) Stone; 19 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her brother Gary LaShomb and sister Shirley Raymo. Barbara J. Stone was born on September 26, 1938 in Nicholville, NY to the late Albert and Dorothy Pike LaShomb. She was a graduate of Potsdam Central High School. On July 28, 1956 she was married to Henry Stone at the United Methodist Church in Potsdam. Barbara was a homemaker for several years raising her 8 children. After the kids grew up she went to work with her husband for Green Island Construction out of Albany. She was a flag person and ended up the office manager. She retired after 14 years. Spending time with her family was very important to Barbara. She enjoyed cooking, golfing, playing bingo and spending winters in Cocoa Beach, Florida with her husband.
Gary Franklin Lashomb: Watertown Daily Times (NY), Wednesday, 25 July 2001: The funeral for Gary F. Lashomb, 56, Potsdam, will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Garner Funeral Home with the Rev. Russell Clark officiating. Burial will be in Bayside Cemetery. Mr. Lashomb died from a stroke Monday evening at Canton-Potsdam Hospital, where he had been a patient since Thursday. Calling hours are 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home. He was a produce manager at P&C Foods in Potsdam and Ogdensburg and Super Duper Market. Born May 7, 1945, in Potsdam, a son of Albert and Dorothy Pike Lashomb, he was a 1964 graduate of Potsdam Central School and married Cathy Ciadella on July 5, 1969, at St. Mary's Church. The marriage ended in divorce. He married Elizabeth Whitney in Adams. That marriage also ended in divorce. In 1977, Mr. Lashomb won $1,000 a week for life in the state lottery from a ticket he bought at the Super Duper, where he was employed. He was a former member of the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks Lodge and Potsdam Volunteer Fire Department. Surviving besides his mother, of Potsdam, are three sons and two daughters-in-law, Jamie and Cindy, Parishville, Joseph G., Colton, and Greg, Potsdam; a daughter, Whitney Lashomb, Potsdam; two sisters, Mrs. Donald (Shirley) Raymo, Potsdam, and Mrs. Henry (Barbara) Stone, Norwood, and three grandchildren. Donations may be made to a charity of one's choice.
