Laura Exilda Pitre: The Ottawa Citizen (ONT), Thursday, 6 August 1953: A resident of Ottawa for the last 54 years, Mrs. Laura Lavergne, 71, died yesterday in a local hospital after a short illness. Mrs. Lavergne was born and educated in Embrun, Ont., the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Delortie Pitre. She married there in 1899 to Alexandre Lavergne. He died in 1941. Her home here was at 79 Poplar Street. She was a devout parishioner of St. Jean Baptiste Church. She was a member of the Ladies of the Rosary and the Third Order of St. Dominique. Surviving are one son, Albert, of Bourlamaque, Que.; seven daughters, Mrs. Hormidas Ladouceur (Laurette), Mrs. Romeo Renaud (Rose), Mrs. Roger Bisson (Juliette) and Miss Jeanne Lavergne, all of Ottawa, Mrs. Fernand Villeneuve (Louise) of Deschenes, Que., Mrs. Gaston Bisson (CLaire) of Arlington, Va., and Miss Therese Lavergne of Montreal; a sister, Mrs. Alphonse Lavergne of Ottawa, and 13 grandchildren. The body is at the Landreville Funeral Home, 578 Somerset Street West. The funeral will be held Saturday at 7.45 a.m. to St. Jean Baptiste Church for requiem high mass at 8 o'clock. Burial will be in Notre Dame Cemetery, Ottawa.
