William Bernard Peters:  The Bangor Daily News (Bangor, ME), Saturday, 25 September 1943:  (photo) Word was received by relatives in Orono yesterday of the death of Pfc. Bernard 'Pete' Peters (William Bernard Peters Jr.) son of Mr. and Mrs. W. B. Peters, Sr.  His parents, making their home at present in Portland, received a wire from the War department merely stating that Pfc. Peters died on Monday, Sept. 20.  According to several recent letters he was serving with the U.S. Marines 'in the tropical regions again.'  Word of his death was telephoned to Orono, where he has many relatives, by his sister, Miss Dolores Peters, now of Portland.  Only recently Mr. and Mrs. Bernard Peters received a letter from their son, Pfc. William Bernard Peters, Jr., 'somewhere in the South Pacific', telling them he had accidently met three of his old pals from his own home town, Orono.  The boys considered it quite an event 'bumping into each other' in the far off land.  The boys were Richard (Dick) Murray, Harry (Bud) King, and Howard Myers, all from Orono.
