Marie Yvonne Pitre: Times Colonist (Victoria, BC), Wednesday, 18 June 2008: (photo) Jaubert, Yvonne Marie (nee Pitre) Yvonne died peacefully in her sleep at the Victoria General Hospital on June 14, 2008, 4 days short of her 89th birthday. She was born and raised in rural Quebec on the Gaspe Peninsula and was the eldest of 6 children. Even in her childhood years as she sacrificed for and served her siblings, she demonstrated the selflessness that would, combined with her indomitable joie de vivre and sparkling sense of humour, come to be recognized as a hallmark of her character. Yvonne was predeceased by her daughter Michele (Ray) Johnson in 1988 and her husband Yves in 2007. She is survived by her daughter Lyanne (Graham) Jaubert-Sanderson, grandchildren Matthew (Lindsay), Jasmine (Jeremy), Danielle (Jeff), Joshua, and great-grandchildren Jaxon, Benjamin, Scarlet, and Alexa who was born just 5 days earlier. Visits from grandchildren and great-grandchildren, to whom she was known as Maman Yvonne and most recently Grand Ma Cookie, were the highlights of her days. She was a treasure to her family and her legacy will be one of love and faith. Yvonne loved the Lord, and found great strength and comfort in her faith. With her late husband she served 3 missions for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, in Washington, DC, Reunion, Mauritius, and Brittany, France respectively. The family would like to thank all those who cared for her, including her family physician, Dr. Wetzer, the staff of Saanich Peninsula and Victoria General Hospitals, BC Ambulance personnel, and long-time pharmacist Jason. Special thanks also to friends, young and old, who were so generous and genuine in showing their love and concern for her. A memorial service will be held at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints chapel in Sidney on Saturday, June 21, 2008 at 11 a.m. Yvonne loved pink and those attending are invited to consider wearing something of that colour.
