Thomas Edward Peters: The Ottawa Citizen (Ottawa, ONT), Tuesday, 2 August 1955: Peters, Thomas E. - Suddenly, at his home, on Monday, August 1, 1955, Thomas E. Peters, age 44 years, beloved husband of Irene Fitzgerald, of 267 Booth Street. Resting at the parlors of McEvoy Brothers. Funeral Thursday to Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church for requiem mass at 8 o'clock. Burial Notre Dame Cemetery.
- Kingston Whig Standard (ONT), Wednesday, 3 August 1955: Ottawa - Police Tuesday described the death of a 47-year-old civil servant as one of the most elaborate suicides they had ever seen. Police said Thomas Peters, a Bureau of Statistics employee, apparently made elaborate arrangements for his suicide while his wife and two children were at a movie Monday night. They said he dressed himself in a woman's bathing suit, padded it with wet towels and wrapped himself in a coil of copper wire. With lamp cords he grounded one end of the wire to a ement sewer pipe and was electrocuted when he plugged the other end into a ceiling light socket. Police say Peters, a reserve army paymaster, had no record of neurosis. They said they could uncover no motive but that they are investigating reports he was a poor handler of money.
- The Ottawa Citizen (Ottawa, ONT), Thursday, 4 August 1955: Largely attended by relatives and friends the funeral of Thomas Edward Peters who died on Monday was held this morning from McEvoy Brothers to Our Lady of Perpetual Help. Very Rev. Msgr. J. O'Neill celebrated the requiem mass and Rev. D. T. Sullivan said the prayers at Notre Dame Cemetery. Chief mourners and survivors were his wife, the former Irene Fitzgerald; one son, Brian and one daughter, Lorie, both at home.
