1938: Ste-Anne-de-Ristigouche, Que, July 20 - The Ristigouche
mission has just lost its oldest parishioner in the person of Mr. Jeremie
Pitre, who passed away on July 18 at the age of 93, having received all the
sacraments of the Holy Church. Born in Rustico, PEI, on January 25, 1845,
to Sylvestre Pitre and Sophie Buote. Mr. Pitre was among the
Acadians who came to establish the parish of St. Alexis de Matapedia in 1862.
N. D. L. R. 'La Voix d'Evangeline,' of which Mr. Pitre was one of the
longest-standing subscribers, extends its heartfelt sympathies to the family of
the deceased.
