Obituaries for the children:

Cecilia Mae Peters:  C. B. Post (NS), Saturday, 2 July 2005:  Cecilia Mae Sampson, 84, a resident of Harbourstone Enhanced Care facility and formerly of Blackett's Lake Road, passed away peacefully Friday, July 1, 2005, with the knowledge that she was now free to go, deeply loved by her family who will love and miss her forever.  Born in L'Ardoise, she was the daughter of the late Simon and Susan Peters of L'Ardoise.  Cecilia is a former member of St. Theresa parish, Sydney, and was involved in the ladies auxiliary.  She was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 151, East Bay.  Cecilia is survived by the love of her life, her husband, Leo; three daughters, Patsy Burton (Ralph), Marion Bridge, Carol LeBlanc (Jamie), Livonia, Mich., U.S.A., Marie Butler (Mike), P.E.I.; five sons, John Poirier (Heather), Alphonse Poirier (Aileen), Charles Poirier (Sharon), all of Ontario, Ron Sampson (Sylvia), P.E.I., and James Sampson (Gisele), Moncton, N.B.  Also surviving is one sister, Rita MacKay, Cambridge, Ont.; and brother, Abe Peters, Sydney; 25 grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren.  Besides her parents, she was predeceased by seven brothers and sisters.  Visitation for the late Cecilia Mae Sampson will be held Saturday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. in T.W. Curry Parkview Chapel.  Funeral services will be held Sunday at 1 p.m. in T.W. Curry Parkview Chapel with Fr. Frank Abbass officiating.  Burial will be in Resurrection Cemetery, Sydney Forks.  In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Mary's Parish Renovation Fund, East Bay.  By request of the family, if flowers are to be sent, they ask that no roses by used because of an allergic condition by one of the family members. 

 

Bernard Peters:  15 December 1993:  Peters, Bernie - 70, St. Catharines, Ont., formerly of Cape Breton, died December 13, 1993, at home.  Born in L'Ardoise, he was a son of the late Simon and Susan Peters.  He is survived by a son, Gary, Barrie, Ont.; three grandchildren; five sisters, Mary Briand, Cecilia Sampson, Rita McKay, Rose Walsh, Kay Pushie; brother, Abe.  He was predeceased by a brother, Albert; two sisters, Viola, Florence.  Visitation will be 2-4, 7-9 p.m. Thursday in T. W. Curry Parkview Chapel, Sydney.  Funeral will be 11 a.m. Friday in St. Mary's Church, East Bay, Rev. Frank Abbass officiating.  Burial will follow in parish cemetery.
 

Mary Catherine Peters:  23 October, 1998:  Pushie (Peters), Kay - Avalon Drive, Sydney River, died October 22, 1998, at home.  Born in L'Ardoise, she was a daughter of the late Simon and Susan (Lathigee) Peters.  She was a member of St. Andrews Church and Sydney River Y's Menettes.  She started singing with Emilio Pace Orchestra in the 1940s and later with the Acadians at the popular Silver Rail.  She did several TV and radio shows and the Rotary show, Anything Goes, in 1974.  She worked at Woolco Department Store for more than 20 years.  Surviving are her husband, Ross; daughters, Nancy (Mrs. Greg MacDonald), Westmount; Susan (Mrs. Bill Curtis), Halifax; sons, Ray (Penney), Tex.; Andy (Stacey), Halifax; seven grandchildren; sisters, Rose Walsh, Sydney River; Mary Briand, Rita MacKay, Cecelia Sampson, all of Ontario; brother, Abe, Sydney.  She was predeceased by sisters, Viola Landry, Florence Jacobs.  No visitation.  Cremation has taken place under the direction of Sydney Memorial Chapel.  Memorial service at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations to Canadian Cancer Society or Sydney River Y's Menettes.
