Richard Reginald Peters:  Casper Star Tribune (Casper, WY), Wednesday, 23 April 2008:  Buffalo - Funeral services for Richard Reginald "Smiley" Peters, 71, will be 2 p.m. Thursday, April 24, 2008, at the Prince of Peace Lutheran Church with Pastor Kirk Peters officiating.  Burial will be in Willow Grove Cemetery.  Visitation will be from 1 to 9 p.m. today April 23, 2008, at the Adams Funeral Home Chapel.  He died at the Amie Holt Care Center on Saturday, April 20, 2008.  He was born on June 22, 1936, in River Rouge, Mich., to Reginald and Stella Peters.  He grew up and received his education in the River Rouge school system with his two brothers and sister.  He worked for an insurance company in Detroit, before joining the Army and serving his country for two years.  After his discharge from the Army, he returned to River Rouge for a short time.  He then moved to Buffalo and stayed his his aunt and uncle, Leonard and Mary Meacham.  He worked for the Wyoming Highway Department before taking a job with the Johnson County School District as a custodian in 1969.  When he retired in 1996, he was the custodian at Clear Creek Middle School.  His long time employment with the school district enabled him to make many friends and was known by all the kids as "Smiley."  A majority of the kids at school were especially pleased when he would sing "Happy Birthday" to them with his deep boisterous voice.  He was an avid hunter, fisherman and fly tier.  He enjoyed movies, dining out and debating politics.  He was especially active in his church.  He is survived by his mother of River Rouge, Mich.; one sister, Dolores Swekel of River Rouge, Mich.; one brother, Ken Peters and his wife of Phoenix, Ariz., one cousin and numerous nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by his father, Reginald Peters and one brother Bob Peters.  Donations in his memory can be made to the Prince of Peace Lutheran Church or a charity of your choice.
