Obituaries for the children:

Joseph Henri Francis Alfred Pitre:  The Gazette (Montreal, QUE), Tuesday, 18 October 1966: (photo)  Police Director Frank Pitre:  Funeral services for Frank Pitre, police director of Lachine for the past 22 years, will be held on Thursday at 10 a.m. at the Resurrection of Our Lord Parish, 33rd Ave. and St. Joseph Blvd.  Dir. Pitre died suddenly at his home in Lachine yesterday.  He was 61.  He was born here and educated at the Academie Pichet in Lachine.  Dir. Pitre joined the Lachine Police Department in March 1933 and two years later he was promoted to detective-sergeant and in 1938 detective-inspector.  On May 1, 1944, Mr. Pitre became director of the department.  He was responsible, in 1949, for the adoption of a medal for police action above and beyond the call of duty.  He explained that, on several occasions, police constables assigned to specific duties had risked their lives at fires or accidents but received little, if any consideration.  He said that a traffic constable, for instance, who left his post to rescue a person from a burning building was acting beyond the call of duty and that some recognition should be given.  The bill was passed at a general meeting of the Metropolitan Police Chiefs Discussion Club on Jan. 24 of that year.  He was president of the association and the following year was re-elected for another term.  He was also a member of the Canadian Police Chiefs Association and the Police and Fire Chiefs Association of Quebec.  Dir. Pitre was a nephew of Didier Pitre, renowned Canadian Hockey Club defenceman, who played in the days of Newsy Lalonde, one of Canada's best known hockey players.  After playing as a junior with the St. Stephen's Hockey Club, he undertook the promotion of the sport in Lachine and was one of the founders of the old Lachine Maroon Hockey Club.  He was a member of several local organizations including the Lachine Kiwanis Club and the Knights of Columbus.  He is survived by his wife, the former Laura Major; two daughters, Patricia (Mrs. Michael Norris) of Two Mountains, Joyce (Mrs. George Macdonald) of Pointe Claire; two brothers, John and Victor and five grandchildren.
