Ronald Russell Peets:  North Country Now (Potsdam, NY), Friday, 4 May 2012:  Ronald R. Peets, 67, North Bangor:  Ronald R. Peets, 67, passed away Thursday evening at his home with the love of his family at his side.  He had been in failing health for sometime.  Arrangements are with the care of the Flint Funeral Home, Moira.  Ron was born March 15, 1945, in Union Hill, the son of the late Russell and Eleanor (Sherman) Peets.  He attended school locally in Union Hills. Ron entered into the United States Navy on September 21, 1965.  During his enlistment he was the recipient of the National Defense Service Metal, Vietnam Service Medal with one Bronze Star, and the Navy Unit Commendation Ribbon.  During his enlistment Ron married Judith Bodway on December 17, 1966, at St. Mary of the Lake Church, Ontario, NY.  He quickly uprooted his bride from the cold climate, and moved her to the warmth of the California sun where he was stationed.  Besides his wife, Judith, he is survived by his mother Eleanor; a son Donald of Williamson, a daughter and son-in-law Michele and Brian Hargarther of Sodus.  He is also survived by six sisters Connie Doyle of Macedon, Bonnie Doell of Palmyra, Donna Stramione, Cheryl (Howard) Spence both of Williamson, Patricia (Charles)Vancasselle of Honeoye, Terry (Irwin) Bushart of Ontario, NY; two brothers, Lonnie (Cathy) Peets of Macedon, and Gary (Sherry) Peets, of Ontario, NY; four grandchildren Thomas J. Abbott, Ronald J. Abbott, Kenneth J. Peets, Brian Hargarther, and one great-grandson Jacob Lee Abbott.  For over forty years he worked construction, working for several companies the Marshall Bros just to name one.  He also worked for the town of Macedon for eleven years as a laborer in the water department, then later as a supervisor for two years.  Ron was an active part of his community.  He was a one of the founders of the Union Hill Vol. Fire Department.  With his carpentry skills he helped build the fire station from the ground up, and lead the firemen as first assistant chief.  With a thermos full of coffee and a pack of cigarettes he was set for the day.  However with his son Don and a fishing pole his day was complete.  Expressions of one's sympathy may be made in Ronald's honor to High Peaks Hospice or the Bangor Vol. Fire Department.  A gathering to celebrate the life of Ronald R. Peets will be held Saturday, May 5, from 10 to 11:30 a.m. at the family home, 868 Reynoldston Road, North Bangor.
