Obituary:  The Eunice News (Eunice, LA), Tuesday, 7 December 1937:  2nd Stroke Fatal to Dallas P. Pitre; Funeral Held Sunday - Prominent St. Landrian is Mourned by many - was in Cotton Bus.:  Dallas P. Pitre. 53 years of age, resident of Opelousas, and prominent farmer and cotton buyer of St. Landry parish, passed away at his home on West Vine street early Saturday morning.  Funeral services Sunday morning were at the Opelousas Catholic church and interment in the Catholic cemetery, Rev. Father A. B. Colliard officiating.  Lafond and Son, undertakers were in charge.  Mr. Pitre suffered a severe stroke of apoplexy last Tuesday afternoon which entirely paralyzed the left side of his body, from which he was rallying well Thursday night when he suffered another stroke which resulted in his death early Saturday morning.  In spite of the second and fatal stroke, the doctors held hope for his life until death was announced.  By his death the community lost one of its substantial citizens and his wife a good husband.  Survivors besides his wife, nee Alice Bertrand, are his mother Mrs Jules Pitre of Opelousas, and four brothers: Albert, Jules, Leo and Walter, all of Opelousas; three sisters Mrs Charles Joubert, Prairie Ronde, Mrs. Alvin Fontenot, Opelousas, and Mrs. Edgar Prudhomme of Lawtell.

Obituary:  Daily World (Opelousas, LA), Tuesday, 5 April 1977:  Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday in Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church for Mrs. Dallas Pitre, the former Alice Bertrand, 90, of Opelousas.  She died at 5 a.m. today at her nephew, Eddie Ledoux's residence following a four-week illness.  Interment will be in the Holy Sepulcher Mausoleum directed by the Lafond-Ardoin Funeral Home of Opelousas, Sunset Hwy.  Survivors include one sister, Mrs. Eddie (Pearl) Ledoux of Opelousas; and several nieces and nephews.  A rosary will be held at 7:30 tonight.
