Notes for Lillith Noel 'Lillian' Fulton:
Obituary: Beatrice Daily Sun (Beatrice, NE), Wednesday, 24 January 1912: Mr. and Mrs. W. M. Fulton, old residents of the Liberty vicinity, were shocked yesterday to receive a message informing them that their daughter, Mrs. Lillian Pete, one of the leading members of Francis & Williams' dog and pony show, was burned to death Monday at Selma, La., where the show was filling a date. No particulars of the sad accident were contained in the message, but it is reported that she lost her life at the afternoon performance. Mrs. Pete was well known in the Liberty vicinity where she resided for years, and at the time she met her death her husband, who is also employed with the show, was with her. She was thirty-six years of age and leaves no family except her husband. She was a sister of Mrs. J. R. Ellis of Cortland, a former Beatrice resident. The remains will be brought to Liberty probably next Friday for interment. The funeral announcement will be made later. Friends in Gage county of Mrs. Pete will sincerely regret to learn of her untimely death.
- The Weekly Sentinel (Blue Springs, NE), Thursday, 8 February 1912: The funeral of the late Mrs. Lillith N. Pete was held from the home of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. W. M. Fulton, in Liberty township, Friday afternoon of last week. The funeral services were largely attended, neighbors and schoolmates of the deceased gathering to pay their last respects to her memory. Interment was made in Liberty cemetery. Lillith Noel Fulton was born in Big Run, Pa., July 10, 1875, and died at Selma, La., January 23, 1912. She was the eldest daughter of Wesley M. and Lucinda E. Fulton. She came to Nebraska with her parents in 1883; making her home on a farm southwest of Liberty. She received her education in that vicinity and was a graduate of the Liberty high school, class of 1897. She was married to W. M. Pete of New Orleans, La., at Omaha, July 5, 1899. The deceased, with her husband, owned the Francis Williams shows, and under the name of Francis Williams had appeared in all the principal cities of the United States. Her death was caused by the explosion of a gasoline lamp in her dressing room at Lelma, La., where the show was billed to appear. The deceased is survived by her husband, her parents, two sisters and five brothers.
