Obituary:  The Ville Platte Gazette (Ville Platte, LA), Wednesday, 22 December 1971:  Funeral services were held at 9 a.m. Monday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church for Leo Pitre 55-year-old Ville Platte area farmer who died at the Ville Platte Medical Center at 9 a.m. Saturday following a long illness.  Burial was in the old Ville Platte cemetery directed by L'Angelus Funeral Home.  Survivors include his wife, the former Alice Vidrine; one son, Joseph Honore Pitre; and one daughter, Miss Sherry Dean Pitre of Ville Platte; two brothers, Dallas and Murray Pitre, both of Ville Platte.  Also surviving are nine sisters, Mrs. Johnny Maddox of New Orleans, Mrs. Percy Credeur of Opelousas, Mrs. Jack Pardue of Springhill, Mrs. Tom Arnaud of Lafayette, Mrs. Norman Nelson of New Orleans, Mrs. James C. Andrus of Houston, Mrs. D. G. Smith of Baton Rouge, Mrs. William Sans Souci of Santa Barbara, California, and Miss Mary Pitre of Lafayette.

Obituary:  Daily World (Opelousas, LA), Monday, 28 January 2002:  Grand Prairie - Funeral services for Mrs. Alice Vidrine Pitre, 78, were held at 2 p.m. today in St. Peters Catholic Church here with burial in the church cemetery.  Mrs. Pitre, a resident of Ville Platte, died at 3:20 a.m. Sunday, January 27, 2002, in Ville Platte Medical Center.  Survivors include: a son and daughter-in-law, Joseph Honore and Marie Pitre of Opelousas; a daughter, Sherry Pitre of Ville Platte; and two grandchildren, Michael Shawn Pitre of Lafayette and Delaina Pitre of Baton Rouge.  Visiting hours were observed from 4 to 11 p.m. Sunday and from 8 a.m. today until time of services.  A rosary was recited at 7 p.m.

Sherry Dean Pitre:  The Ville Platte Gazette (Ville Platte, LA), Thursday, 2 March 2017:  Ville Platte - Sherry Dean Pitre, 70, a resident of Ville Platte passed away Monday February 27, 2017 Prairie Manor Nursing Home in Pine Prairie.  She is survived by her brother Joseph Honore Pitre of Prairie Rhonde; nephew Michael Shawn Pitre; niece Delaina Pitre Sweat.  She is preceded in death by her parents Leo and Alice Vidrine Pitre; and sister-in-law Marie W. Pitre.
