Obituary:  Massena Observer (NY), Monday, 15 October 1951, Malone:  Last rites for Louis P. Peets, 71, Brushton merchant, who died Wednesday at the Alice Hyde Hospital were held Saturday, at 9:30 a.m. from St. Mary's Church. Rev. J.A. O'Brien, pastor officiating, assisted by Rev. Edmund Dumas, Fort Covington.  Burial was in the parish cemetery.  Mr. Peets was born in Iowa, a son of the late Louis and Mary Peets.  For 38 years before his death he operated stores in Dickinson Center and Brushton.  He was a lumberman and owned and operated several farms in the vicinity.  A justice of the peace of Brushton for 35 years, Mr. Peets also served as mayor of Brushton for several terms and was supervisor from the town of Moira in 1944.  Surviving are his wife, the former Mae Tebo, a son, Adelbert Peets, Brushton; three daughters, the Misses Loretta and Madeline, both of Brushton and Mrs. William Boyle, Fort Covington; two sisters, Mrs. Ernest Tebo and Mrs. Louise Tyo, both of Massena, and a brother, Frank Peets, also of Massena.

Obituary:  Fort Covington Sun (NY), Thursday, 4 August 1960: Funeral services for Mrs. May O. Peets, 77, of Brushton, widow of Louis Peets and mother of Mrs. William Boyle of Fort Covington, who died Sunday evening, were held from St. Mary’s church, Brushton, yesterday (Wednesday) morning at ten o’clock.  The Rev. Gerald Seguin officiated at the high Mass of requiem.  Interment was in the parish cemetery.  Mrs. Peets was born in Cheboygan, Mich., June 26, 1883, a daughter of Adelbert and Electa Durant Tebo and went to Brushton 42 years ago where she had since resided.  She was a member of St. Mary’s church in Brushton and a member of the Altar and Rosary Society of that parish.  She was also organist of the parish for 16 years.  She died on her way to the Malone hospital after being stricken ill at her home.  In 1903 she was married to Louis Peets, who predeceased her in 1951.  Surviving are, one son, Adelbert Peets of Malone; two daughters, Mrs. William (Mae) Boyle of Fort Covington and Miss Madeline Peets, at home; one adopted son, James C. Peets, at home; four grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Loretta Mary Peets:  Fort Covington Sun (NY), Thursday, 24 January 1957:  Miss Loretta Mary Peets, 53, of Brushton, sister of Mrs. William Boyle of Fort Covington, died Saturday while being taken to the Malone hospital by ambulance.  She had been in ill health for about two years.  Funeral services were held Tuesday morning at 9:30 from St. Mary's church, Brushton, with the Rev. J.A. O'Brien, pastor, celebrating the solemn high Mass of requiem, assisted by the Rev. Emanuel Sullivan, S.A., of Saranac Lake as deacon and the Rev. E.H. Dumas of Fort Covington as sub-deacon.  Burial will be in the parish cemetery in the spring.  Miss Peets was born in Dickinson August 12, 1903, a daughter of Mrs. May Odena Peets of Brushton, and the late Lewis Peets.  She was a partner with a sister, Miss Madeline Peets, in operation of The Fashion Shop in Brushton.  Before the death of her father, she had worked as a clerk in his store.  For several years she had been employed by the Proctor and Gamble Company in the New England States, Florida and Bermuda.  Besides her mother and two sisters, she is survived by a brother, Delbert Peets of Brushton, and five nephews, James Peets of Brushton; William, Richard, Donald and John Boyle of Fort Covington.

May Odena Peets:  Press Republican (NY), Friday, 6 October 1995, Fort Covington:  Mae Boyle, 85, of Fort Covington, died Wednesday, Oct. 4, 1995, at the Canton-Potsdam Hospital in Potsdam.  Born in Dickinson Center, Aug. 21, 1910, she was the daughter of Louis P. and May O. (Tebo) Peets.  She graduated from Brushton High School, Crane School of Music and Potsdam Normal School.  She was a teacher, musician, and choral and band director and played piano, organ, violin and trumpet.  She taught at Fort Covington High School and St. Mary's School.  On Oct. 22, 1934, she married William F. Boyle.  He died July 14, 1989.  She was an active member of St. Mary's Church, and served as president of the Altar Rosary Society, presided as organist and for many years led the choir.  Survivors include four sons and daughters-in-law, William and Linda Boyle of Newburgh, Richard and Margaret Boyle of Norwood, Donald and Diana Boyle of Northville, and Jack and Patricia Boyle of North Salem; a sister, Madeline Peets of Madrid; a nephew, James Peets of Brasher Falls; 14 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.  A brother, Adelbert Peets; and two sisters, Frances Shea and Loretta Peets; all died earlier.  Calling hours will be today from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Cappiello-McKenzie and Cosgrove Funeral Home in Fort Covington.  A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Saturday at 11 a.m. at St. Mary's Church with Monsignor Edmund H. Dumas officiating.  Burial will be in the old St. Mary's Cemetery.  Donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, American Diabetes Association, American Heart Association or Wadhams Hall Seminary.

Frances Marie Peets:  Facts and Fallacies (NY), Thursday, 24 November 1938:  Mrs. Frances Marie Peets, wife of James Shea of Malone died Tuesday forenoon, November 22, at the home of Mrs. William Scully, Malone, having been ill for over a year.  Funeral services will be held at St. Mary's Church in Brushton Friday morning at 10 o'clock.  Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery.  Mrs. Shea was the daughter of Mayor and Mrs. L.P. Peets of this village and was born 24 years ago.  Until her marriage to Mr. Shea, September 10, 1934, she resided in Brushton with her parents.  She was a graduate of Brushton High School and of the Adirondack Commercial School in Malone.  Besides her parents and husband she leaves a three year old son, James Jr.  A brother and three sisters, also survive her: Adelbert, the Misses Loretta and Madeline Peets of Brushton, and Mrs. William Boyle of Bangor, Maine.
 

Madeline O. Peets:  Watertown Daily Times (NY), Wednesday, 1 June 2005: MADELINE O. PEETS OPERATED CLOTHING STORE - Madeline O. Peets, 83, formerly of Brushton, died Tuesday at United Helpers Cedars Nursing Home, Ogdensburg.  Miss Peets was employed at her family's general store in Brushton and operated the Fashion Shop, a ladies clothing store, with her sister Loretta Peets.  She was employed at Crossroads Restaurant until her retirement, because of ill health.  Born June 26, 1921, in Malone, a daughter of Louis and May Tebo Peets, she was a 1939 graduate of Brushton High School.  She was a communicant of St. Mary's Church.  Surviving are five nephews, James Peets, Brasher Falls; William Boyle and his wife Linda, Newburgh, Richard Boyle and his wife Margaret, Norwood, Donald Boyle, Northville, and John Boyle and his wife Pat, Westfield, N.J., and several great-nieces and great-nephews.  Her parents, a brother, Delbert Peets, and three sisters, Loretta Peets, Mae Boyle and Frances Shae, died before her.  A funeral Mass will be at 4 p.m. Friday at St. Mary's Church with the Rev. Thomas Moody officiating.  Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery.  Calling hours will be 2 to 4 p.m. Friday at Flint Funeral Home, Moira. Donations may be made to a charity of one's choice.
