Pitre, from Golden Meadow, was a pleasant caller Tuesday morning at the Comet office.  Mr. Pitre was one of the fine-looking men selected to serve on the grand jury, that body being made up, this time, of principally large. men.

 

Obituary:  Times Picayune (New Orleans, LA), Wednesday, 23 March 1955 - At New Orleans, La., on Monday, March 21, 1955, at 11:20 o'clock a.m., Leonce Pitre, beloved husband of the late Julie Bruce, father of Mrs. Justy Collins, Mrs. Vincent Lyner, Mrs. Bregure Cheramie Jr., and the late Camilia Champagne; aged 81 years; a native and a resident of Golden Meadow, La.; survived by 20 grandchildren and 28 great-grandchildren.  Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the funeral, which will take place from the Falgout Funeral Homes, Inc., Galiano, La., on Wednesday, March 23, 1955, at 9 o'clock a.m.  Services in Our Lady of Prompt Succor Catholic church, Golden Meadow, La.  Interment in Our Lady of Prompt Succor Catholic cemetery.  Falgout Funeral Homes, Inc., Galiano, La. in charge

Estella Marie Pitre:  Lafourche Daily Comet (LA), 25 March 1991:  A Mass of Christian burial will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Our Lady of Prompt Succor Catholic Church in Golden Meadow for Estella Pitre Cheramie, 84, a native of Leeville and resident of Marrero, who died at 9:55 a.m. Monday (25th).  Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. until funeral time Wednesday at the church.  Interment is in Our Lady of Prompt Succor Cemetery.  She was the mother of Chester J. Cheramie, Doris Monaco, Camelia Bychurch and Myrtle Weigel.  She was preceded in death by her husband, Bruger M. Cheramie Jr., parents, Leonce and Julia Bruce Pitre; one son, Huey L. Cheramie; daughters, Ruth LyBarger and Mollie Cheramie; sisters, Isabell Collins, Leoncia Liner and Camelia Champagne; and one grandson, Douglas Verges Jr.  She is also survived by 22 grandchildren, 40 great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.  Falgout Funeral Homes, Galliano, is in charge of arrangements.
